Atmosphere 2024/25

I’m starting to think similar. Could the north stand expansion actually make the atmosphere worse. My fear is that some fans will move to the north stand and there former seats will then be sold onto corporates or as match day tickets.

So we might end up with more singers around the ground, but in smaller sections. With more sections becoming corporate in between

Hopefully I’m wrong.
Why don't they have one stand for tourists.
Who can film each other and compare what they have purchased in the city store.
Leave the rest of the ground to normal fans

When you replicate the 3000, South stand, safe standing seats, level 1, give or take, put them at the back of North stand, level 2, which roughly is the same height and dept as the back of South stand, level 3,(open to debate), put 5000 GA and GA+ ‘seated’ seats in front of the 3000 safe standing seats, fill those seats with fans from the North stand, who will probably get first refusal, then fill the remaining seats with fans from the Colin Bell stand, the East stand, and the South stand, then include 100’s of paying guests, tourists, day trippers, and football fans staying at the hotel, that isn’t going to create an atmospheric home end, in my opinion.

As it is, we’ve got 4000 fans stood on SSL1, blocks 111, 110 and 109, and even they struggled to get the atmosphere going during most home games this season. And they are on of L1, next to the pitch.

If people think a similar setup right at the back of NSL2 is going to make a huge difference to the match day atmosphere, they are kidding themselves.

That’s just my opinion. It doesn’t mean I will be right. We’ll have to wait until the North stand is open, and there’s been quite a few home games before anyone can judge if the expanded North stand has improved the atmosphere or not at the Etihad.

Hypothetical. Wishful thinking. Was never going to happen. Deluded jrb! Lol!

If City had made all of NSL2 safe standing. Put a 1000 capacity singing section at the front and across the bottom of NSL2. And targeted the singing section at City fans who do want to sing by asking them to apply to go into the singing section, then the club would have created something approaching an atmospheric home end. Obviously, with the loss of significant match day revenue compared to the current North stand plans.

The tribute to Rodri was obviously well merited but to me it was set up as not needing any crowd noise with a 10 minute megamix being pumped out at full volume over the PA of contrived versions of Freed from Desire and Glad All Over then going into Hey Jude and Blue Moon.

I sensed SSL3 were itching to start some songs with Rodri on the pitch but were totally drowned out by the PA. I think this then carried over into the game and I'd say pumping out the version of Glad All Over they did stole the crowd's thunder and removed the need to sing We've Got Guardiola once the match started.

There wouldn't be anything at all unreasonable about having a dedicated 8,000 singing section in a 60,000 capacity stadium (just over 13%) when as a rough figure in its various guises Maine Road had 50% standing (who could then contribute to the atmosphere if they so wished).

I think it’s obvious you will be right and additionally, where as now when the cameras pan to the City support they invariably show the South stand level 1, flags waving, celebrations of level 1 after a goal scored, fans chanting etc what will they show when all our passionate fans are corralled into the top tiers?

The visuals will look terrible in the stadium with TV showing, fans sitting down looking morose, videos being taken, selfies and a tourist fanbase. It will reflect badly on our fans again, just like the reputation for empty seats, started when the lower level of the north stand turned into a full on family stand and typically, for night matches, kids and parents were less likely to show up.

I sit in south stand level 3 and often the atmosphere is great up there, but in an ideal world we should be in sight of the cameras, making noise and cheering the lads on.

Barca ended up
Just the same with the real fans (Cules) stuck up in the gods, an irrelevance as the ground turned into Disneyland..

Looking at it from the clubs point of view rather than just the revenue aspect.

The club doesn’t want fans to stand up at the front of NSL2 as that will have a ripple effect and force fans behind to stand up as well, all the way up to the safe standing section. This will cause a lot of stewarding problems, and it will piss City fans off who ultimately want to sit and watch the match like they currently do in other parts of the ground. So putting GA+ seating at the front made perfect sense to the club. It brings in additional match day revenue, which is what the club ultimately want from the new North stand, and fans who buy hospitality seating tend to stay seated watching the match.(I’m not saying they don’t ever stand up)

The problem for City and their stewards will be fans standing in the GA seats close to the singing section, which will happen. And fans standing in the outer blocks on both sides of NSL2, who will probably stand for the big games.

When you get two conflicting fan demographics ‘on the same tier’, those wanting to stand, and those wanting to sit, it’s bound to cause problems.

I’m sure City have discussed that and many other NSL2 scenarios and issues, and are happy they can be overcome. If not, so be it, City will deal with it on a match day.

Our response to a battering was very good. Every single other top 6 club would very loudly boo their team off at the final whistle after that, and have done so in recent years, spurs literally did it 2 weeks ago, but there was no booing from us only defiant singing. Now perhaps that was because most people didn't witness the whistle go but it was pleasing to see and the players seemed to acknowledge it too.

Spurs fans were absolutely atrocious in my opinion, that's arguably their result of the decade, they'll be talking about that game for years to come yet it was half arsed at best from them. only songs they could come out with was from the standard team neutral league 1 songbook.

No other top 6 club seems to sing these small time chants constantly, only spurs and they do it every year.

Apart from that they sung that Southampton chant a few times and that was about it. Really poor considering what a massive result that was for them.
