Atmosphere tonight

I think it's easy for players to blame lack of atmosphere for their underperformance.we are not good enough at the moment. God help the players when we play cska away if they need atmosphere to lift them.if the team play well the atmosphere lifts with it.its not as if Roma are going to win this competition as well as they are doing at the moment.clichy would not have been my choice last night following on from recent suspect performances.we were yet again overrun in midfield and caught standing off the opposition .totti at 38 and gervinho for goodness sake.once again joe hart slipped up at a vital moment and yaya offered nothing but was deemed irreplaceable.dzeko was having one of his better consistent games and was subbed.not sure if this group of players have got the nouse required to conquer Europe but it makes it all the sweeter when we strive to reach our goals rather than gifted them overnight.we were in trophy wilderness for 40 years so stop all the flapping as it will happen sooner rather than later.as for atmosphere it has been eroded by club and authorities for years in homage to health and safety which as we all know the uk is one of the few that sticks to the rules.other considerations are pricing and our ageing fan base.the majority are old codgers that moaning, whinging and sitting down generally afflict as we get older.we lost the next genation during the barren years and any new upstarts who try to create atmosphere are often put down as being jcl's or being crass.rowdiness is often associated with drunkeness and doubt many will be drunk at today's prices. Sky saturation as also played a big part in losing match going fans as it's so easy to watch a game and keep a family together.

Whilst you have the away fans located directly behind the goal of the south stand of the stadium it will never have an 'atmosphere'. Particularly when at the opposite end of the ground is the Family stand. This allows the away fans to be heard in a big way and hence dominate the mood of the crowd.
I think we stuck the Dortmund away fans up in the 3rd tier at a game not so long ago and we should do this with all away fans.
To allocate away fans such a prime piece of terrace territory is madness on all fronts (view of the game, singing, stewarding etc) and does the home
fans no favours at all. The south stand should be 100% City fans and effectively be made the 'singing stand'. If that part of the stadium was packed full of Blues the singing and the atmosphere would improve dramatically.
It 'ain't rocket science. The away fans are given the prime location at our home games.
Absolute stupidity.

Absolutely shocking tonight the Roma fans were very good. Just a shame all fans who wanna sing are all in diffrent parts of the ground. Was shocked it wasn't as full the stadium. Are city fans becoming complacent or is the champions league wearing thin already? Both fans and players needed to up there game last night.

Personally I think a better idea would be to make North stand L1 the "City End" - that way it doesn't get impacted by bigger away allocations for Cups. The away fans contribute to the atmosphere so I'd leave them where they are rather than sticking them in the gods, look how shit the atmosphere is when hardly any away fans turn up - fulham last season for example.

re atmosphere:

1) empty seats before the match/lack of pre match atmosphere
- City fans have always got to the ground LATE. City fans are old school, and are often in the pub instead of looking at blades of grass hours before (like the rags and Liverpool).
- City fans are working and travelling to the game. We are not rich tourists who either don't work or get the whole day off to travel up (rags/Liverpool)

2) non attendance of fans (I don't know any season ticket holder who went last night)
- the expense
- shit atmosphere/tourists
- getting BANNED for trying to start an atmosphere with letters relating to ''persisting standing and singing " whereas showshec have given up where we are in league games.
- lack of beer in ground
- lastly and probably one that shouldn't be a factor - the expectation that we are shit in Europe
-

- on a personal note, I work long hours and struggle to make week night kick offs (And I work in the city centre). Further, I suffer from crazy insomnia and I get so involved in the match (Especially when we are shit or are being screwed by the officials) that i'm so 'hyped' up I get no sleep at all. SO in a sea of fans that don't sing, sometimes I think you know what, its not worth it.

ALSO - to add- Most blues don't have the 'love' for the chumps league due to being the G14 Cartel where the old school tie like to fix things and concentrate wealth. Where is the appeal? We haven't been apart of the 'champions league' love in. GIve me the league any day. Last night was probably the most boring game I've watched in a few years.

We've been over this for years now tho aint we doubt the club are going to do anything about it. Maybe when the south stand is done that will help because there splitting away fans over 3 tiers..

people are over looking the fact that we/city are crap in europe and thats the real problem, not so much the atmosphere but the preformances,i think a lot of people know this and think why should i go when we dont play well, bit of a catch 22

the south stand have a whole stand allowed to stand up yet are silent compared to a couple of rows in 110/111..

we can't further any kind of 'noise block' because the c*nts at showsec ban people in 109 for trying to carry on the noise (former season ticket holder in 109 who had to move to 110).
