Atmosphere tonight

Our home support is embarrassing at times. Not even sure why we're expanding the ground when we can't even come close to selling out our first CL home game of the season. They could have shut the 3rd tiers last night and has those fans fill the empty spots in the lower tiers...

people are over looking the fact that we/city are crap in europe and thats the real problem, not so much the atmosphere but the preformances,i think a lot of people know this and think why should i go when we dont play well, bit of a catch 22

I agree with this.

But also disagree.

the atmosphere/fans should create the buzz FIRST. Then my opinion has always been that the performance will follow. its a bit hard to give up on that full pitch chase back when 40k fans are singing your name!!

It can be argued part of the reason we lost at stoke............ 'we' were crap that day too. Kolorov is right.

Attendance 37509

That's as big a joke as some of the swamp's official attendances, no way were there 37k there last night, looked to be about the same as the Sheff Wed. game.

That's no excuse. People were still turning up before the money, when were were absolute sh*te. If people didn't go because they knew we wouldn't perform then why would they have ever turned up in the past ?

The club needs to move the away fans, and allow the South Stand to be a standing singing section, if that can be made possible the atmosphere will hugely improve. Having a dedicated large section should help the atmosphere to catch on around the stadium.

Bollocks to that! We could do with the club using some sonic apparatus that wanders round the ground like that camera last season that gets everyone on, to see who makes the most noise. 323 top of the league with more decibels than an Etihad jet taking off!

Seriously, I think a lot of people turned up thinking the worst! The notion that summat will happen that can't be legislated for. There's a lot of trepidation among the crowd on CL nights and it gets to the players.

I work nights so was unable to go or watch the game ..just watched the highlights...Read a post last night of a guy saying all other 19 clubs in the prem would of had a better support than we did last night ie full stadium fans creating atmosphere getting behind the team 38 000 against a big European club like roma really is poor its confusing because against spurs in a couple weeks well probably have 45 000 like we do most league games...then to top it off youve got rio ferdinand and scholes having a dig wankers the sad thing is though what they were saying is actually true

that doesn't make any sense, why do anyone go when we were really crap then. Its the price thats stopping people from going. btw we outnumbered the roma fans and had a singing section the same size as theres, but we didn't make a noise. The south stand have stopped singing and just stand there with arms folded. Only the corner sings now.

No, it won't improve at all, you need away fans on L1 as well as a unified, dedicated City end to make the atmosphere better, that's why I'd make the North stand L1 the home end for the singers.

I travel from Warrington and leave 1.5 hours before ko. I normally get to my fave parking spot about 45 mins before ko. Last night the traffic around the M602 and the Mancunian Way was dreadful. I parked up at 7.35 last night and had to leg it to the stadium sharpish. Many people must have arrived like me just in time for ko. That certainly didn't help with the atmosphere. I only saw a small number of season ticket holders around me last night. Proof that fans simply can't afford a ST and all the Cup Schemes as well. The newbies, who are very welcome, just don't sing like the regulars do. The positioning of the away fans has never helped with the atmosphere either.
