Atmosphere tonight

The club have not learned a single lesson about the champions league. All the away games, the away fans are stuffed up in the gods - just wait to you go to roma - 80,000 screaming italians and we will be gasping for air where we will be. when we go to 60,000 seats, the atmosphere will be non existent.
We should rename the stadium TUMBLEWEED TOWERS…………...

I have just got back home after an 100 mile round trip. I go literally to every home and away game. For Champions League I get moved from my seat in 207. Last night I realised the club had my ticket up for sale and asked to be moved back to my normal seat. I was surrounded by plastic fans. To make matters worse they had sold my ticket to some knob who wanted to sit in my seat, despite the fact I had an e mail from my club to say me and my lad were now located in our normal seats. I am really mad about this. I think the club need to wake up to the fact you can have the best stadium, players etc..... but the club is nothing without proper fans. If it was upto me I would put away fans, friends of FIFA and any other Corporates in the top tier at the back. Remove the section of roof so they get pissed wet through when it rains or frozen stiff + we won't have to listen to the crap they sing.

Ref the atmosphere - anyone who did not turn up tonight should be embarrassed. You are making us a laughing stock. All these threads contain excuse after excuse about why the ground has no atmosphere. No wonder if you are sat at home !

As a point of note, whilst not being in the CL scheme this year, I was unable to buy my season seat and just found one last minute for the Roma game and have been moved to another part of the ground for the Bayern game. So, when talking atmosphere, day trippers and away fans are picking up our seats for these games so, not surprised some thought the home support was a bit flatter than usual. I thought it was okay and we certainty weren't that quiet at the game!

I agree with what you are saying, but price is a big factor in why people are at home they can't afford the champions league games

Even if more people went the atmosphere would be still be shit as we arent alloweed to stand and it's hard to get tickets next to people you know.

At least I caught the end of the generation of going paying on the door with your mates, all together and having a good sing song. Thsoe days are long gone. Now it's go in, sit down, quietly clap the goals and read the programme.

oh as for this opinion of - you should go to the game, or you don't have an opinion.

So someone who goes to one game a season has more of an opinion than someone who may go to 40+ games a season, home and away.

I knew what the atmosphere was like tonight before the match even started because I've been to many Chumps league matches at our stadium, which is why I no longer go to them as the matchday experience is shit and not for me.

We urgently need a singing section, safe standing included.

it would be even better if everyone boycotted this matches - it might then give the business men at city a kick up the ass and they might just then start listening to fans rather than these pathetic shitty surveys on city-voice.

For a few years now we've cried out for a singing section. we want to improve atmosphere. we want cheaper tickets.

Will the club oblige?

if they can make a few quid out of it only then will they listen.

I'll voice my opinion on this club as much as I want.

Wasn't there but all you could hear on tv were the Roma fans. Must be very inspiring for the players eh! Don't blame it all on tourists... If regular match goers bothered to go then the place wouldnt be full of randoms

A lot of regular match goers can barely afford their season tickets any more - wages have hardly increased here since 2008, prices have more or less doubled.

Sorry for my comments dude. Seems quite crass now but I obviously didn't intend that. If the prices have really increased that much then the owners should really have looked at the demographic in manchester before ramping up ticket prices. We should put atmosphere and selling out grounds with vocal and loyal support before anything else.

There should be a fans forum where St holders can voice their opinions to the board. Many clubs have this but from reading other threads it doesn't seem like we do.

No probs, all football clubs are doing the same. If you price out local fans the atmosphere will suffer, but all big clubs go for the revenue over the atmosphere these days. CIty are no better or worse than anyone else.

Also if we had won no one would be complaining :)

I would recommend that you send a formal letter to the Club to express your views, send it recorded delivery addressed to the CEO. If enough people do it - you will make your point. I agree the City Voice questionnaires seem a bit pointless.

Has anyone tried contacting the club about improving the atmosphere?

Who - like the people on here who complain about the atmosphere but watch the game on TV. Only on Bluemoan!

Just because you don't go to the game doesn't mean you can't have an opinion on it. I couldn't afford it tonight but I thought the atmosphere sounded bad.

The atmosphere has been poor for years mate. The only way to improve it is for people to turn up and get behind the team. Credit to the few hundred who sang their hearts out!

At away games you don't always get to sit with your mates - everyone sings - Hull was brilliant ! Why can't everyone do the same at home ?
