Atmosphere tonight

Its embarrassing as a fan to see that attendance tonight it seems its getting worse and worse every season I don't understand it 38 000 for a champions league tie against roma something isnt right

Lovecity - couldn't agree more (except the bit about the drums :-)

My first game was in '81, I sat with my Dad in the Maine Stand and I was transfixed on the Kippax, the singing, the organised chaos - I couldn't wait until I was old enough to go on my own and stand in the top corner. I'm sure it was the first hit of drug for me. Of course those days will never come back but atmosphere is so critical to hooking the youngsters to club and the live match day 'experience'

Maybe the onus on each and every one of us to be like the guy in 134, rather than waiting for clubs to designate leaders, to be leaders in our own right

Next time we are in the ground and some poor soul is trying his best to get a chant going I implore each and every one of us to chip in a help that person out. Just do it 3-4 times a half and the atmosphere will improve - we might even lift the team when they need that shred of inspiration

The game was live on national TV. The rags and Scousers spent decades building up a national and international fan base to get to the point where they can sell out games like this.

For me one of the biggest problems is the way people's habits have changed. Go back 20 odd years Maine Road would be half full 30 minutes before kick off allowing atmosphere to build so by the time the teams came out practically everyone was in place. Now as soon as right here right now hits seems to be the que for thousands to pour out of the concourse to take their seats. Perhaps encouraging people in that bit earlier may make a difference wrap up the stuff on City Square a bit earlier etc...

I'd welcome these so called tourists that create no atmosphere if we can actually fill the ground. Much more embarrassing than a lack of atmosphere. The atmosphere has been shite at home for years now, bar the odd big game or when the fans gain a sense of injustice usually from a poor refereeing decision. Didn't help tonight when you get stewards on the second tier telling you to sit down for tonight, even the lads at the very back were being told to sit. I have very little hope of the atmosphere improving any time soon, it seems like we've past the point of return and this is now the norm.

The entire experience of watching a home game has changed dramatically over the last decade or so. I live and breath football, attend every game i possibly can home and away but to be quite honest, the only thing stopping me from getting rid of my season card and saving a hell of a lot of money i don't really have is the fact i need it and the points to get my away tickets. It's also my first thought when deciding to opt into all 3 cup schemes. Thank the sheikh we still have away days.

Its such a strange one, UEFA don't help at all with all their rules about ticket allocations, how certain "premium" seats must be allocated to the "family" and away fans, hence why we end up with random Roma fans about the place,

City Square needs to close earlier, make it so people have to go to their seats and get in the stadium instead of milling around outside listening to interviews with pop bands,

the club needs to look at it and see what else they can do, a designated singing section, helping the 1894 group... looking at the video from the Hamburg game and it looked amazing it wouldn't cost the club a lot of money to make flags, get inflatables, add in bringing the price down a bit and then have a "Match atmosphere" instead of a "game day experience" the atmosphere tonight was awful in parts...

its all about the fan base there are clubs that charge more but people will want to assist

if some cannot afford a lot waiting to assist

its not a rocket science

The irony is the fans sitting on the hands in silence are probably the same fans flapping about not making champs league qualification.

people watching on tv complaining about the noise, just fuck off .,I was in the family stand and I got to say the people in the singing section gave as good as they got, well done guys, the atsmosphere was fine,ok not bouncing but no better or no worse than expected, and by the way stop blaming "day trippers ,tourists,a least they go,

Eh?

I go all over this country watching City. I've been over Europe watching City.
if I want to moan about why I didn't go tonight because of the daytripping cinema like experience, I'll fucking moan.

I'm not spending £35 on top of my season ticket or whatever the fuck it is to sit there with my hands under my backside bored out of my mind sat beside some randomer.

and if I stand up to cheer I get these c**ts taking pics of me celebrating.... I mean WTF?

No Chumps League for me thanks. waste your hard earned.

oh as for this opinion of - you should go to the game, or you don't have an opinion.

So someone who goes to one game a season has more of an opinion than someone who may go to 40+ games a season, home and away.

I knew what the atmosphere was like tonight before the match even started because I've been to many Chumps league matches at our stadium, which is why I no longer go to them as the matchday experience is shit and not for me.

We urgently need a singing section, safe standing included.

it would be even better if everyone boycotted this matches - it might then give the business men at city a kick up the ass and they might just then start listening to fans rather than these pathetic shitty surveys on city-voice.

For a few years now we've cried out for a singing section. we want to improve atmosphere. we want cheaper tickets.

Will the club oblige?

if they can make a few quid out of it only then will they listen.

I'll voice my opinion on this club as much as I want.
Empty seats make for a bad atmosphere. It's up to the fans who go to get behind the team. The singing section tries but no one joins in. Few did tonight anyway. Might change with the layout of the new stands.

Agreed, the clubs has the perfect opportunity to do something about this in the summer.

They handle the expansion correctly and who knows we may be able to recreate an atmosphere like we had at Hull for every home game!

when you have about 3k of fans singing all together that's what makes for a atmosphere, that's why I enjoy the away games I go to,
