Its nothing to do with what others think! Its about showing support for the champions of England! Yes the cost is expensive and yes most loyal blues have enough to shell out over the season, but don't for minute think this game is not important. I would hate to think we are getting apathetic about ANY chance of seeing us win a trophy no matter how trivial it may be. Lets not forget how much just a few short years ago we would only dream of playing in the community shield. So to the OP I back your rallying cries " Come on blues, lets support our champions on August 12th". If you can afford it!!!!
What a crock of shit !!!!! It's a bleeding friendly, did you go to Wolfsburg ? No coz it means fuck all

What a crock of shite, you forgot to mention China and Malaysia. It's not really a friendly is it it's the traditional opener to the English Football season, which has been played for donkeys years.

does it count for anything once the season starts ??? does it get you into Europe ? most of the players that know they are in the normal starting 11 will be playing 3/4 effort.
It means nothing whatsoever in the grand scheme of things, it will sharpen players fitness that is all.

Been played for donkeys years, it used to be played at club grounds, City have hosted it and didnt even win the league or the cup that year !!

It is a glorified friendly whci is used to raise funds for Charity and now Community football !!

Still want City to win though !!!!

I suspect some will have been put off by last season's experience. It was fairly clear then that Roberto didnt take it that seriously. The players looked and played in the second half like they'd just returned from a 10k run. There were plenty of complaints on here about our supposed lack of fitness.

As it turned out there was nothing wrong with the players fitness levels. We were sharp enough for the real season opener the following week and were very strong over the course of the season. It was just that the match wasnt allowed to interrupt the players preparations for the season. No attempt was made to get the players fresh for the game.

I expect the same will apply next week. We'll play at a slow pace and look very heavy legged. But we'll be a completely different proposition against Southampton.

I'm looking forward to it as a day out but have absolutely no expectations about the game itself

I'm going with all my pals, 16 of us in total. Because we aren't armchair sky sports dog heads.

It's so important that one year the first division champions Derby and the FA Cup winners Leeds declined the invitation to play in the game. Instead fourth placed City and third division champions Villa (yes, third division!) played in it instead.

It's not important at all. We played 54 games last season, the Community Shield was the 55th most important game just ahead of the 56th 57th and 58th most important ones in the Dublin Supercup. People moaned last year when we took 22000 to Wembley for it yet could barely muster that for a home game in the League Cup against Brum when that game was more important. There were no threads telling everyone off for not bothering going to that were there?! And we barely mustered 10000 more than that (with 5500 Liverpool fans) for the League Cup semi-final which was miles more important than the fucking Comm' Shield!

If you think it's important, fine. Go, enjoy it, sing some songs, then forget about it like everyone else for another twelve months. But don't bang on at people who don't want to go because they think it's just an exhibition game (which it is!). There may be 60 more important games than the Comm' Shield this coming season, I bet you all wont be at all 60 so why moan at us for not being at possibly the 61st most important?!

Is it not the same as those banging on it s a meaningless friendly works both ways

No because these threads are all the same with people calling out others about not going to a game. So, many just say "stick your opinion up your arse kid, the game means nowt!" which is true. If there weren't threads started calling people out there wouldn't be people feeling they need to defend themselves for not going.

Calm down peeps.

Restricted view only left.

Ive had a look at the Villa Park seating plan and I cant understand why these tickets are classed as restricted view ? Some seem to be lower tier behind the goals. I have never been to Villa Park before can anyone explain why ?

There not really, just at awkward angles. The £15 seats are front rows so they say your low down, yet when that used to be the away end they were never classed as restricted view if I remember correctly. Just the way the FA price tickets really I think, or at least its not a restricted view like Goodison or Anfield.
