Its a huge gamble, appointing di matteo till the end of the season, they are in no way guaranteed a champs league spot and if they dont get one not only will it affect their financial position but also their ability to attract top players and consequently a top manager.

I'd be inclined to take any quotes from un-named sources in The Sun with a very large pinch of salt.

I do agree that some of the players have a lot to answer for though.

Ironically everyone blaming Terry but apparently Terry was the only one of the old guard backing him and was fighting AVB's corner.

I blame all this on Lampard & Cole. They were the ones spreading poison through the media.

Didn't waste any time with this story......i was going to give it a week but the next day is sharp i have to say

Well, the players know they only have so long to try and get Di Matteo fired and replaced by someone they hope will suck them off regularly while still having enough time (in their minds) to turn it on and get into a Champions League spot. It's a balancing act really. The players have to throw a large enough tantrum to get whom they want hired but still have enough games to try to salvage the season before they end up having an accident and fall off Roman's yacht into the Arctic Ocean.
