In fact, i think guys like Anelka, Benzema or Drogba were already better than him at the same age and that he will never reach their level ( let's not even mention Et'oo, Raul, C. Ronaldo, Henry, Ibrahimovic, Inzaghi, Trezeguet ).

Drogba had 7 goals from 32 appearances at Le Mans when he was 22.
Henry had 20 from 105 for Monaco
Anelka had 34 from 121 for PSG, Arsenal, Real Madrid and PSG
Benzema had 43 from 112 for Lyon
Ronaldo had 38 goals from 154 for Sporting and the rags

Only Anelka, Ronaldo and Benzema had managed a season with more than 10 goals in it.

that list could be endless

just to add a couple

ibrahimovic and -everyone dream- falcao

both were wankers when they were 22 , scoring a dozeen goals in the mighty argentinian and holland leagues

But I bet everyone of them worked hard for the team (maybe not ibrahimovic), that is something Mario doesn't do

He may not be here next summer. But as you mention penalties count on the scoreboard so when he gets one I thinks its fair to give him credit for it.

Admit it, even if you take out his penalties its pretty impressive to be ranked so high.

How does he rank in assists and % of games won when he starts for City?

Let's play a little stats game.

So not prepared to admit it eh? Come on, its not too hard and you can still hate him and want him sold at the end of it.

As for the stats, why don't you try Google.

Do I have to S P E L L it out. The stats are great.

My point is stats don't tell the full story. I.E. when Balotelli starts we have less chance of winning than when Aguero, Tevez or Dzeko start.

You can spin it anyway you want. I believe what I see on the pitch and it ain't great.

I think is goalscoring is one of the top 10 in premier league history. Scores in his next game and it will go down a bit, fails to score and it will increase a bit. But I don't see the point in downplaying a goal scoring record based on what you think it might end up at some stage in the future.

Come on admit it. Top 10 in premier league history isn't bad is it?

Take the penalties away and what are the stats??? Not saying that penalties aren't important or don't count but goals from open play is the stat you should be looking at.
Your faith is comendable but he won't be here beyond summer IMO.

You have sold me , imagine the meltdown on here when he misses his first penalty for us.

The attacks on Balotelli on this forum are more based on the press and its desire to create something out of him which he is not.

Personally I care little for what he does off the pitch as long as it doesn't affect what we do on the pitch in a negative fashion.

His pranks and hissy fits wouldn't distract the real goals and focus on the side in any way shape or form I would suggest if truth be told.

Unless YAYA is talking through his yaya I would prefer to take what he said on board recently when asked about Mario than a bunch of McDonald's frenzied generation swag of bluemooners with a loyalty and consistency to any individual in the side that goes beyond what they did last or what they think they will do next.

Fuck me Moomba. I do not hate him and I will and never have bood him during a game.
All I am saying is that I don't think his performances are at a level that a 24million pound player should be. He has had plenty of opportunities to impress but really hasn't.
I have criticised his performances and his off field shenanigans as I believe it is detrimental to team spirit.Yes he has scored penalties and lots of them but is that what we paid 24 million for???
I wanted him to succeed (and he has had enough chances to) but he has not.

ibra and falcao can be everything but you can safely say they are not hard worker and never has been.

Oh god here we go.your not loyal because you criticise a player who has constantly underperformed etc etc....Everyone is allowed there opinion on Mario and just because you don't like it you call us the above!!!!
And of course Yaya is really going to say publicly "Mario-yeah he is a right twat and ruins team spirit"...
Look at how Hart reacted to Mario's sending off at Arsenal last year. There is your evidence of what one member of the team think about him. Remember his spat with Kolarov over the free-kick when VK had to step in?? Or do these not register with you?? Take the blue blinkers off just for once.

All Moomba is saying is as a 4th choice striker and it appears to me that is what is what the vast majority of bluemooners have him in the pecking order its not a bad fourth choice striker to have.

He has provided data that suggest he has some quality.

Whether you rate that quality with 24m and 110k a week or whatever he is on is not relevant to what Moomba is trying to point out to you.

He has already best summarised it by saying if what Balotelli has done this season is the best he will ever do then he would be in the camp to sell him in the summer.

I want him to stay for as long as the owners ,management and the players believe he can add value to the side and I would be surprised if any of them thought otherwise at this juncture.

No way is Mario 4th choice.

It's evident that he is 3rd choice with Edin being 4th.

Criticise him all you like I have as well perhaps more often than you but don't come on this everyone who slags him off is justified in wanting him out vis a vis and everyone who looks at his positive contributions who wants him to stick around ( should he want to and the club want him to ) hyped drival and never the twain shall meet.

God has nothing to do with it , loyalty has nothing to do with it , the disagreements on and off the pitch have nothing to do with it.

Hart and others wear their Hart ( pardun the pun on their sleeve ) and of course they would be disappointed with some of the things that Mario has done , I wouldn't expect anything different just like Hart pays off at his defense when they don't do what he would expect them to do.

Hart paid off on Vincent K rightly or wrongly for the third goal against Real Madrid that most think was the pivotal moment in our lack lustre campaign in the Chumps League this year.

Do you class that as an example of what Hart thinks about Vinny both short and long term as a captain of the team as a defender he can rely on etc?

Players argue and spat all the time my friend.

I look at the incidents like you but unlike you I don't conclude that because they happened that Vinny , Kolorov , Hart etc etc want rid of Mario or think he is the only bad egg in an otherwise pristine makeup of players who all get on like a house on fire everyday and everygame for 94 minutes and then some and that City would leap beyond Manure in this years race in a hearbeat if he wasn't around anymore.

As I said you are a child of the Mcdonalds school yourself.

But before you reply I never said their was anything morally corrupt about being in that school.

You just have less patience than I do that is all.

-- Thu Dec 20, 2012 5:15 am --

Fair enough , I am more a horses for courses man notwithstanding the relative successes when we start with any given combination of two etc but that doesn't mean if my wishes mirror RM's it will guarantee more points over 38 games than otherwise.

Ive said it before in this thread that I despise his attitude and work rate (not to mention diving and sulking and failed passes and lack of respect for everyone but himself)

But...

Ive got an inkling that all of this could be a show before he switches into what he should be doing after dividing opinion for so long. We all know he loves attention and he is getting absolutely massive amounts at the moment. Imagine the uproar if he suddenly pulls his finger out and performs match after match? If he where able to keep it up he would be a legend.

As said before though whether he develops into this fine player with us or elsewhere I dont know.

Or maybe its due to his constant shite performances.

I bet he starts on Saturday.
I hope you lose that bet. He had no need to start, nor does he deserve to. Tevez and Aguero playing with Silva and Nasri have proven to be a far better option than when Balotelli plays. Unless it's injury-forced, Balotelli shouldn't be anywhere near the starting 11 on Saturday.

Although I don't want him to start, and mancinI would be mad to do so, it wouldn't surprise me.
Everyone knows Carlos and Sergio up front is the only way foward, and anyone who disagrees is also mad!

-- Wed Dec 19, 2012 9:55 pm --

I bet he starts on Saturday.

In some respects I think the wildly varied opinions about Mario speak volumes about his time at City. There's truth in both sides of the argument.

I think he is either:

A fookin football genius who will come alive one day on the pitch and waltz past everybody, bursting a blood vessel whilst sweating blue blood to really show us what he can do...Apparently in training he does some absolutely fabulous things.......
OR
He is in fact a bone idle, useless, braindead cnut..........

I think he is in fact a genius who is playing us along.............??!!
