Delph did even better as a left back last season.......so while Zinchenko has adapted well,who's to say what the future will bring for a player whose natural instincts lie elsewhere? As for Mendy,i'll believe it when is see it.

We need a left back and this kid fits the profile.

We currently have two midfielders doing their best to impersonate a left back while our preferred,and specialised,option recovers from what seems like a never ending list of injuries.....So,right now,he is anything but average compared to what we already have.Not that i agree with that opinion in the first place.

Chilwell is currently playing for a relatively poor team,and despite that standard he is still impressing.Put him alongside more gifted athletes and i believe we could have a similar player to the one the Dippers have discovered in Robertson.

Prone to giving the ball away when under pressure and making bad decisions, seen him getting caught out of position many times. Pep would improve him but a gamble without a doubt. We were going to sell Zinchenko for 12m, he’s a better all round, more intelligent player than Chilwell and uses the ball much more effectively. I’ve not seen Chilwell defend properly, he plays wingback without actually being one, a lesser version of Zinchenko who is a brilliant prospect.

Chilwell is a young English international. Other than that, he is pretty average. I don't understand the hype and the speculated fee.

Yup,exactly what you need for a left back,don't need to be spectacular,just be steady,defend and do their job,the kid looks alright to me,trying to be spectacular like Mendy does,well look were that got him with us,not very far.

Problem is we paid a fortune for Mendy,so got to try and make it work out,somehow,but if he'd been purchased for under 25-30m he be out the door in the summer.

Better places, and players, upon which to spend serious money. Plus, Saul can fill in there, too!

Zinchenko gets into any team outside the Top 6 and even into some in the Top 6, so why spend £30/40/50M on Chilwell when you get Saul for slightly more and he can cover LB, too?

Only possible reason for a Chilwell purchase is FIRST CHOICE LB, and selling Mendy to help offset the cost! I could live with that.
