Blue Alliance Fans Survey - Improving The Atmosphere

My son is 10 and gets really embarrassed if I make any tribal noise. I have noticed that other kids and cool 20 some-things are the same. If you look at the Dortmund fans last night they all contributed because it was cool to be part of the pack. We need to breed the same culture. This happens on occasion at away games e.g. Fulham last week when a group congregate at the back of the stand and generate atmosphere that most joined in with.... it was again about being part of the pack. We need all fans to recognise its cool and therapy to shout / sing and make noise and not something to be embarrassed about. Booze seems to help everyone get in the mood.

blue alliance are doing a good job, trying to get it together, the difficult bit is starting off......

im in SS lower tier, its looked great with the tik tape thrown at the start of the game, been doing that myself since we did the poznan..

a start would be to get together and practice on a non match day, see what numbers we have, speak to the club on how we can get together in the ground.. thats when we hit a brick wall though..

but lets keep going now, im up for it, email from me coming so lets group and meet..

because of uefa regulations - asking us how big the pieces of paper were in the bags of confetti !!! - the stewards made us put the bags at the back of tier 2 instead of the front of tier 2, as no paper was allowed to get onto the pitch !

anyway, 25 responses so far in the 1st couple of hours - keep 'em coming blues, no apathy, we'll try and collate them all after the weekend and hopefully get something in place for ajax

Can I suggest a visit by leaders of the Blue Alliance to Aris FC in Thessaloniki, to see how they do things or possibly Dortmund etc.

I think Safe Standing would help. I feel an all seater stadium like ours is a bit contradictory in terms when most away fans stand up for most of the games from what I can see.

why did the club chose the other side of the away fans for a singing section anyway? why not use the south stand as it already was an unofficial singing area and spread it along that corner?

Great that the club are looking for suggestions, Ive started a facebook page called 'The Citizens Movement' if anyone is interested.

The more interest on the website, the more chance of persuading MCFC to be more lenient and let TBA do what they do best!

For me the only thing which would work is to campaign hard for Safe Standing, Scotland have done it why can't we? South Stand lower would become the Standing end with the away fans moved round a bit more in the corner. This way mates who don't necessarily have season tickets can stand with mates who do and if you're in the mood for a sing song you can stand in the bit you know will be more vocal, if for whatever reason you're not you can just stand I'm another bit. Its got to be safer than 2 per seat how it is at the minute.

Have you asked the club their view on safe standing?

I mean something like you see here:

Got to make sense, hasn't it?

Perhaps every seasoncard holder in the south stand should have an open day where they can rehearse. Incentives like a reduction in their ticket prices if they turn up for the day or something.

Really impressed with Dort fans and the Aris fans from 2 seasons back. Very well orchestrated.

Good idea this actually, didn't think.

A stadium open day where if you want to sing and be apart of this you turn up on the non matchday and rehearse, to see how it goes.

No ticket discounts lol, just an opportunity to be apart of something.

The problem with the atmosphere is us! Yes us. If we opened our traps and let some proper decibels out, there wouldn't be a problem. Year on year we are(collectively) becoming less tolerent to proper Maine road type atmosphere of yesteryear, as we politely watch the game from the comfort of our seat, frowning and tutting if anyone in our immediate area has the audacity to even try and bellow a song out, and it is often met with dagger like stares! Now i use the word collectively as the atmosphere generated by 44000 or so home fans is piss poor to be totally honest and only the southstand and southEast corner blocks can be 'collectively' excused. I am in 109 and the noise level and singing sounds ok to good most games, but last night i was in 106 and our singing sections sounded fucking pathetic if i'm honest.

All we need to do is (all to gether now) get fucking singing and stop fucking moaning, no matter how the team is performing. We should ALWAYS inspire the team to perform by singing and creating a good atmosphere, NOT waiting for the team to play well to inspire us to sing as per usual...

With all due respect to the club and the Blue Alliance. We all know what is needed, the Blue Alliance know what is needed but their hands are tied on what they are allowed to do and what the club wants to happen.

Deep down they don't want a boisterous atmosphere, it doesn't fit it with what they want.

So asking for suggestions, asking for polls is a waste of time and is just a front from the club to look like they actually care.

Reading liamctid post from 2009 that he posted before is what needs to happen, the club won't allow it so there is nothing we can do with that end of the ground. It needs new idea's in new area's but again the club will never allow it.

so basically the club wants a stadium like Chelsea???
a song to start then a couple of "cmon city" and that is it???

is that really what they want?

Yes, all they care about is making money. They would be happy if the ground was filled with 48,000 tourists. What has ever been achieved from these polls they send out? Nothing. It's all a front to show they care.

agree the surveys are a load of marketing bull that makes it seem like they care.

That.

We need to make going to city 'cool' again, and make singing something to be proud of

This starts by removing all the cheesy and gimmicky elements of match days, such as bluemoon just before kick off, silly pop music over the tannoy and the patronising, childlike tone of Hugh ferris.

City need to make city 'cool' again, but as has been said, the club would rather have 48k tourists and no noise, as they are more concerned bout h&s rules than having a good atmosphere. A big shame.

Khaldoon, please can you help us fans sort the atmosphere out? Please relax the clubs stance on the regulations that are currently in place
