Borussia Dortmund Vs City (CL) Pre Match Thread

Whatever happens tonight, it is an excuse for me to go to the boozer and watch the match. No Mrs F., no kids. Which is why, in a selfish way, I'd be happy if we win and qualify for the Europa league as it would ensure my single nights of freedom would continue into the new year.

Re: Tonight v Dortmund

Even though it would be nice to win tonight, and I hope we do. This is one time I hope Mancini doesn't play the majority of the first team. Don't care who, bring back Glauber Berti for all I care as long as he saves the best for Sunday to kick the Scums arse all over the pitch!

Get Kiddo off the bench and he won't do any worse then the four horseman.

Get the cheque book out City ya tight fisted barstewards.

Manchester youth for the future of football and City.

Champions league football back at Maine Road when we bulldoze the new housing estate and school.

This is all the players registered for the Champions League (below)
I'm not sure if you can draft in a player if you have several injuries?
It is clear that the defense is a big problem for us. It could mean we are forced to play Kolo in the derby.

This would be my squad for tonight based on the game at the weekend.

Panti

Maicon Kompany Naj Lescot

Nasri Garcia Rodwell Sinclair

Dzeko & Gudetti

Rest
Zab
Milner
(Toure) suspended
Barry
Aguero
Tevez
Balotelli
Hart

Inj
Richards
Clichy
Kolarov
Silva

Playing the kids would be suicide. Not even sure Mancini took many kids to dortmund. Maybe 2-3 will be on the bench.

They dominated us big time in Etihad they could be 0-3, 1-4 to them if their finishing is better or Har is not in Superman mode.

They are fast, they will press us again which we always struggle against, puttig some inexpereinced kids out there could end up in 5-1 battering easily.

Even if they are tired because of the Bayern match they still have some kind of moral desire to beat us like their CEO talks shit at us all the time and of course at home vs. English Champions they can show Europe how good side they are again and they already showed it with finishing over of Madrid, Ajax, City.

I think they will be up for it more than us even if only we have somehing to lose out on (EL.)

I hope we finish the CL with pride we had a good match against Madrid 2 weeks ago but Manicni's tinkering with the defence nearly cost us being 2-0 down after 15 minutes. After that we could come back but couldnt beat a 10 men Madrid at home after a questionable lucky penalty we got.

So as losing/failure is never good it wont give us any extra confidence for the derby.

A good win would certainly gave a good feeling to the team not like a happy end feeling tho.

Real question is can Mancini come up with a good tactics finally or will we be dominated, pressed, scared back to hoofing the ball to strikers.

No Yaya or Silva, we surely cant play our basic system/tactics but that wouldnt get us anywhere in CL so far.

If we wont be up for it while Dortmund will be it easily can be a humiliating loss.

I don't want to see any of our starting 11 for the derby in the team tonight.

Couldn't care less about the europa league spot, much rather we focused all our efforts on retaining the title.

I can't believe some of the comments on here considering where you lads were a few years ago tbh. I'd expect this sort of stuff from Man Utd or Arsenal fans but not from fans of a club who remember what being shite is like, it's sad that suddely the Europa league is no longer worthy of you. As a Sheff United fan I'd bite your hand off to get in it and hope if we were ever successful I'd remember all the years of shit and still think the same way.

As an Oldham fan, mate, it amazes me likewise.

It would be detrimental to our title / Fa cup chances though so that`s the reason and whichever way you look at it it is a distant 3rd as silverware goes in most opinions. Mancini will be hoping an Fa cup win at least would guarantee him some breathing space if the press pack are to be remotely believed , i`m not so sure a Europa cup would.

Although the Europa League is no Champions League, IMO, if Mansour was offered a PL & EL double or a PL and FA Cup double, I honestly think he'd opt for the former.

Much needed co-efficency points, plenty more experience (as a team) in Europe and a European trophy to boot.

I'd take Europa League over FA Cup too. FA Cup is great but we won it about 19 months ago and haven't won a European trophy since 1970. Too many English fans have been brainwashed by our media into thinking the Europa League is a nothing trophy, winning it would gain us more respect in Europe and of course move us closer to Pot 1. If we bow out of Europe tonight we risk teams like Zenit and Ajax overtaking us on the coefficients table if they go into the Europa League and do well.
