Brentford (H) - Post-Match Thread

The retrieval of the ball is infuriating, does any know what the actual reason is for not having multi balls available to speed up play. The situation of time wasting by goal keepers is never going to change unless the refs gives one warning then book them.

I noticed last night the ref became animated when Ederson changed his mind on playing short goal kick delaying the release but nothing of similar to Brentford's keeper. I actually thought he had forgot his cards last night because the right full back must have committed close to 10 fouls last night with only one warning
I have seen games this season where the production of a card has been more akin to a lottery win, except you only get a card if yer've got a winning ticket. Full back mustn't even have bothered to buy one. And the time wasting ist he biggest joke had the ball been placed, not in the goal area, but on the stage at the London Palladium. PiGMOL will be forever damned as its referees serially, consistently, and shamelessly, ignore it - unless they can nick Eddie for taking any time less than the oppo goalie has pissed up the wall with one goal kick.

Time wasting is never punished. Has anyone ever got 2 yellow cards, both for time wasting? Probably not.

How many second yellows have there been for time wasting? A few.

Has a keeper ever been sent of for time wasting?

I thought it was a very good, very professional performance last night. Everyone contributed and made it look quite simple really. Sterling was excellent in the first half but seemed to fade a bit in the second. Definitely a pen and no way was that a dive. Stones and Cancelo were the best two. Foden and Bernardo although not at their scintillating best still kept the ball moving and showed for the ball. De Bruyne did well. Tried to force the issue a bit too early but still a good game.

Game management from the team was well executed and very rarely troubled.
Some have said that it can look a bit slow at times and passing sideways and backwards is a problem. It’s really not. Moving it from side to side. Moving their midfield and back line. Keep them shuffling and eventually you will find a gap or opening. Only needs a little switch off or someone not picking up a man or closing the space then bang we are in.

Nothing wrong with anything from last night in my eyes.

Up the blues.
Hate to say it and will probably get a bit of stick but Phil and Bernie dont show as well when Kev is there.

Park the bus they lose, don't park the bus, try to play entertaining football that fans appreciate and still lose. Would rather watch us play Fulham every week and we will lose one out 10 than Brentford every week when we will also lose one out of 10. It's painful when only one team is even interested in playing. If it were a boxing match the ref would have stopped it and Brentford's purse would have been withheld. They did exactly the same at their place and lost when we didn't even get into second gear, same last night.
they and many teams set out to play 10 minute football
keep it tight or 1 nil then last ten minutes throw everything at it

You are correct.
The opponents have improved their understanding of how to play v City. In turn Pep has slightly adapted the approach to wear teams down. Just occasionally as in the game v Palace the tactics will work and if they use a blanket defence and a quick break they achieve a result. If they lose at least it is not a hammering.
Some of our fans cannot comprehend the complexity of the Premier league and think the opponents should roll over to make it entertaining(7_0).
Personally enjoy watching it, as much as the Leicester or Fulham games as you do, perhaps we just watch it in a different way to @Fordyboy46 and others.
I don’t disagree but most PL clubs at our place don’t seem capable of defending well, keep a bit of possession and attack us, it always seems to be park the bus and hope for bits and pieces on the break. I accept we are bloody good but it would be good if another actually worked out how to do it. The closest I have seen to someone doing that was Southampton

The best players exploit space we do that brilliantly. Teams try to negate it by closing down that space. They cannot do it with a back four. So it is 5 or 6 on the 18 yd line. We counter that with width.
Southampton are very well organised, work extremely hard and carry out a good managers instructions.
And they have the rags on Saturday.

Who the fuck cares?!

Last I checked, the ground wasn’t a prison and people were allowed to come and go as they please.

Now, if they’re in and out all fucking game, that’s a problem, but given a row usually has about, what, 20 seats, and even if you were on the end, that’d mean at most about 8-10 people leaving past you towards the end of the game…IF you ended up alone on the row…and maybe a similar number on the row in front of you, what’s the big fucking deal?

I have no idea why people get so pissed off with other people making their own decisions about their own lives, as long as they’re not actually harming others.
You are correct it shouldn't bother you but then again we shouldn't get annoyed or pissed off at the emptyhad jokes. You would never think we're the best team in the country possibly Europe at 85 mins. In fact you would think we've just got relegated.

yes to all that but we are so good I sometimes think we get the tempo wrong at times and can leave ourselves open to jeopardy when we don't want to.
