Brentford (H) | Post-Match Thread

No one is saying sell him, but it seems he is immune from criticism, a defender makes a mistake and it leads to a goal they are slaughtered and it is deemed their job, de bruyne lost out to a challenge that led to the winner, again its all on the defenders, one person slating akanji said it is his job to win headers so akanjo gets slated, I point out its haalands job to score goals and he didn't today, but no blame on him, a the blame seeks to fall on the defenders
It’s not a case of blame but nobody can argue that Haaland was good today. He was dog shit. Let’s hope it was a fitness thing..

Toney was excellent today. Fantastic movement. Fuck site better than our number nine today. That’s just a fact.
We can't knock Haaland's goal scoring record but he has areas he can improve on days like today. He needs to improve his physicality and heading ability. When he's well shackled he has to start disrupting defences and opening space up for others.

Hope they all enjoy their time in the sun, playing for their beloved countries, fucking wank the lot of them today
All I want from the WC is for England, Portugal and Spain to crash out on the group phase in humiliating fashion

Want our players back early, fit, not burnt out and angry

you could blame him if he missed chances and good chances....but he had zero service today. corsses were appaling, no through balls - he basically wasnt even feeding on scraps...he got nothing....

He had two players marking him in the area every time and the other players around him failed to take advantage of that.

Dismal performance, worst of the season in terms of a collective display.

Ederson and Bern aside, everyone else was way below the level.

No arguments on result but the refs/VAR yet again absolutely disgraceful.

Cancelo dive embarrassing although he wasn’t getting a shot off imo anyway as someone was getting across but doesn’t change fact it’s pitiful.

Gundo v slow, Akanji clearly had his head at the WC.

Haaland very frustrated with his teammates and who can blame him.

Bad result, awful performance. Pressure on when we get back.

Just got home. We were dogshit from start to finish.

Slow, narrow, unbalanaced, shite passing, no movement, nothing..

ps Hasn't Dias played up against Toney in the games before? Second half I'm not sure we even tried to defend against him.

What? Improve his heading ability so he can reach crosses which are 3 feet over his head?

You could see we were not at it in the first 5 minutes couldn't you. I have rarely if ever seen us pass the ball about so lazily and with so little pace or urgency. It was like we were ready to go in, with 85 minutes left to play.

Why didn’t pep change it? That’s the frustrating thing for me. Laporte and Rodri did okay. Bernie worked hard. Eddie motm but rest very poor. It was crying out to be changed and pep waited til there was 15 to go to make one sub.

Fair play to Brentford they had a game plan and it worked for them. They could have scored more than they did. They defended well too.

We were not at the races today. No idea why Pep didn't use more subs to freshen it up as quite a few were well off the pace.

Lost count of the amount of shit crosses into their box that were either to no one or were easily headed away by their defenders.

Bad day at the office, we move on. Congrats to Brentford though.

I actually think we’re better with Alvarez up front. He’s more mobile and always looking for the ball and get involved in any passage of okay. With our slow build up I’m worried we’re not going to be able to play to Haalands strengths which in involves open spaces and quick counter attacking play. Today was just awful but it was the type of result that was coming.
Not Haaland's fault that Gundo couldn't simply score when Haaland placed the one touch pass for him. Also Alvarez took too long before giving that pass to Haaland. It all came down to the little things that we failed to do today.
