Wayne Bridge have you no shame

So between him and Ned that's 150k a week, or £8m a year, off the wage bill. Not a bad window.

Haha no chance. We probably had to give Ned a payoff and we definitely will be paying most of bridges wages. My bet is that we'll be paying him at least 50k a week to play for sunderland

Not quite - there were provisions in the last accounting period for exactly this scenario. And with receiving a fee for Ned I'm fairly certain that for FFP purposes he is no longer costing us anything in the books.

As for subsidising Bridges wages, who knows? He could finally have realised he hasn't got much football left in him so decided to take a cut. We will know in time but either way we are better off financially.

I said yesterday that I don't blame anyone for staying put if someone is going to pump £85k into their bank account every week. That said though I couldn't help but think fair play to Smith for dropping 2 leagues to get some football in what is a similar situation to Bridge, his playing days coming to an end. Smith is getting the same money in the end, but at least he's moved on to play. If Bridge is offered the same money made up of payments from both us and his loan club, he has to move but if he is offered less I don't blame him or anyone else for that matter, for staying right where they are.

Slightly different situation, Smith is out of contract in 6 months and not getting any game time so if he wants to be picked up on a free by a decent club he needs to prove damn quick he can still play.

Bridge has 18 months left on his contract, I'm pretty sure he will go out on loan next season (at least from January) as by then he'll be in the same situation as Smith - unless he's totally given up on playing football again and just wants to bank his cash and not even get a seat on the bench.

I don't blame Bridge for wanting his contract paid in full, that's City's fault after all. I do blame him for the fact he could have gone on loan with City subsidising his wages so he wouldn't lose out financially but he just seems to be happy being paid and not playing when he has had the opportunity to play. I'm also pretty sure we could have sold him with his wages being subsidised until the end of his contract with City but that doesn't seem to be an option with him either. This is what pisses me off.................

Ah, fair enough then, wasn't aware of the contract situation with Smith.

No chance! Obviously I don't know for sure but I'd bet a LOT of money that wayne bridge isn't taking a cut at all and that sunderland are paying nowhere what he'll be earning

Re: Wayne Bridge have you no shame

They'll be paying £30k/week tops I'd guess, still, that's £300k we aren't spending and IF he performs well we may get another loan out of him next season.

Bridge may want to put himself in the shop window next year as he is out of contract in 2013 but my guess is he'll retire at City in 2013 as he'll be 33 years old in August 2013.

There's no chance we'll get a sale unless it's a free like Bellamy and even that is doubtful as he is too old for a club to get enough money back on the deal by giving him bumper wages to offset a free transfer.

Re: Wayne Bridge have you no shame

Another total dog shit Hughes signing we can't shift. I guess we save a bit of his wages till the summer. Sunderland will soon realise how shit he is. No chance we will shift him on a permanent basis, this could be the last football he plays at this level in his career.

Re: Wayne Bridge have you no shame

he obviously wants to leech, his choice i guess, personally i pay him up, but not let him go near another club until contract expires as he wont take a pay cut to join another club, so he have 2 yrs to keep himself fit or go to the dogs, however much i liked hughes, he made some bad buys at silly wages, but guess only way to get decent players at city was to pay over the odds

Re: Wayne Bridge have you no shame

Dear Mr. Bridge,

Please be advised that you are surplus to requirements after becoming the equivelent of a benefit claimer rather than professional footballer. You have never been good enough for this football club and have cost us many goals through your incompetetant defensive 'qualities'.

I strongly advise you, as a player on the wrong side of 30, to retain some dignity and self-respect by requesting to leave this club in favour of first team football. I acknowledge it may be difficult to lift your fat lazy arse from your sofa and actually kick a ball now and again but you should do this as you'll earn more with a signing on fee.

Alternatively we could do a job swap, or perhaps even a wage swap. I would probably do a better job than you despite me being very unfit and becoming easily out of breath over long distances.

Please stop milking my club you parasite. You belong back at Southampton, not Sunderland.

Regards,

C_T_I_D
