Bring the Noise

The attendance is going be poor tomorrow. There are seats available in every block bar 1 block. Some blocks have 100's of seats left. Tickets are £45 for an adult. Can anyone put their finger on why our home support has dropped of pf so much considering the team is fighting for the PL title, and can go back to the top of the PL table if they beat Brighton tomorrow night?

I know many who defered this season and have felt confident to return but have been hit with "your season card is locked so you need to buy a membership at £25" and have decided that the club can fuck off taking the piss with this stupid position and also for some it is still the easter holidays

I will be there cheering on the lads tonight. 30 odd thousand of us have just had an expensive weekend watching our B team lose at Wembley. The overwhelming majority are top Blues but we still get criticised on here and in the media anyway.

I have given away a few tickets for tonight including passing on spares from mate so the tickets don’t go to waste.

I used to get accused of being a happy clapper but my attitude has changed towards the administration of our Club. Like the many thousands of Blues on the Facebook Face Value sites, I love the Club (that’s the fans, players and coaching staff) and dislike the people leading our administration. That’s not including the people on Supporter Services who are hung out to dry by poor systems. Thanks goodness for being part of the OSC.

The latest news about more Premium Seats in East Stand Level 2 isn’t a surprise but it’s not welcome either. Loyalty isn’t recognised. This is a minor point but why implement own goals like removing loyalty points for going to Wembley.

Anyway, I will be getting behind the lads tonight. We’ve got a brilliant team in a fine stadium. We all want to beat the Dippers to the title so let’s show that support. There’s cheap or sometimes free tickets knocking about if people try hard to find them and I know it’s been a very expensive time to be a Blue. Come on City.

Brilliant post Tim, as is the previous post of @Psychedelic Casual. I deferred my SC because I became a fulltime carer and cannot go to most games, plus the cost was getting restrictive in me attending. I could have easily watched the game on TV tonight but i asked anyone if they wanted to donate me their ticket on a freebie and @Blue Smarties kindly offered me one. Cheers pal, really appreciated. And i will gladly buy you a beer or two if we meet up: )

Be there or be elsewhere. The team needs to hear it loud and proud this evening, COYB!

Not with that attitude it won’t be, no. But if each of us goes in with a positive attitude it might rub off on half a dozen around us and we might have a decent atmosphere that drives the team on.
I concur completely, but I just don't think it will happen. We often go on about the need for atmosphere at certain games, however, after a minute or two of vocals from the crowd, the game settles into a pattern and everyone shuts up. Apart from games against the so-called Big Six and odd European game, it's always the same. Sometimes things pick up if proceedings aren't going as expected, but you know as well as I do that some fans will try to lift the noise levels and won't be helped by enough of the crowd.

As I say though, I agree completely that we need to get behind the boys tonight.

People like you won't be happy until the club pick you up from your home and drop you back there after the game in a taxi.
Was in Madrid last week, got back home for 2 hours to collect my Wembley ticket then off again, lost my voice in the process but will be there tonight and I live 50 miles away, not a local bus ride. It's a right old faff in it.
In fairness, if you read his comments on the Russian invasion thread, you'll know he's been too busy executing Russian soldiers to attend matches.

Economics is getting tougher every week, for some (and City don’t help in that regard!). For others, it’s simply that there is this massive apathy that’s set over many of our fans.

They can’t be arsed. Some go to games and can’t be arsed getting behind the team, and some can’t be arsed going full stop.

The difference between the two sets of fans on Saturday was so stark, it shocked me. We’ll see what we’re like tonight but I’ve got a feeling our fans, as a collective, don’t believe in this team this season the same way Liverpool fans believe in their team.

That’s what the difference was on Saturday. It wasn’t that London was too far away, that Wembley is a shit hole, that we’ve been too many times, or that it was too expensive (I did the trip for £30, I’ll spend more money tonight!) and that our lack of atmosphere was because it’s not a novelty for us anymore (we go 1-3 times a year not 1-3 times a month for fuck’s sake!); it’s that a lot of our fans didn’t believe we could win the treble or didn’t have the hunger for it themselves so either didn’t bother going or didn’t bother getting behind the team if they did go.

Likewise, tonight will mainly be poorly attended and have a lack of atmosphere because they haven’t got the hunger or the belief that we can win the league, or the league and CL double. Yes, money, transport, school holidays, work, the weather, that they’ve developed agoraphobia, or any other excuses are very valid for some people; but for others it’s just that they can’t be arsed and/or don’t believe in the team.

What I’ve started noticing a lot with our fanbase as well is that irregular or rare attenders aren’t going to games at all. These are the fans who take up the slack when the regulars can’t go at other clubs, but at City they aren’t doing it. I know fucking shit loads of Blues who never go. Why is this the case at our club?
Some good points as always but re the bolded bit, I beg to differ. The difference between the two sets of fans on Saturday was that one team went 2 goals up early on and the atmosphere looked after itself. If Liverpool were as shite as we were and it was us racing into a 2 goal lead, then a 3 goal lead before half-time, the atmosphere would've been reversed. Plenty of City fans were actually bang up for it prior to kick-off. Loads of singing on the concourse, the Poznan, etc. Sure it dissipated pretty soon after that and I'm one of the world's biggest critics of fans only singing when things are going well but for once - factoring in our line-up and the way we started the game - I could understand why fans were a little deflated. Liverpool fans don't always boss the atmosphere in these big games. It was pretty even in the LC Final in 2016, and a Spurs fan on here who was at the 2019 CL Final in Madrid said they were surprisingly quiet that night despite winning the game, and it was the Spurs fans who were making the most noise.

“People like me”

Lol fuck off. Congrats you’ve got the “I’m a bigger fan than you” award this week.

Some people have a thing called a job and a life outside of spending every waking second obsessing over football.

Getting to and home from a midweek game is a massive pain in the arse, and the sooner the club, the council and TFGM sort out the infrastructure, the sooner midweek matches will be better attended.

A couple of years ago I’d have been there but now I probably can’t be arsed with the faff going, frankly.

Loads on here will slag me off etc I’m sure.

You make a load of good points mate and many of them do explain the empty seats. Jobs and family have to come first, we're not all still wearing silk scarves around our wrists and a million badges on our jean jackets.

If you can find the time to go they you go, if you can't then who cares what someone else says?

Maybe the penny will drop one day.

After fans have just paid £100's during April alone including both Madrid games at home (with some fans doing Wembley and Madrid away also) they think it's acceptable to be charging on average £45 for Brighton at home.

When they see empty seats in abundance tonight maybe they will realise (probably not lol)

Can't believe how out of touch they really are at the minute with fans - it's getting worse with each passing season.

Completely disagree here. Whilst I appreciate and very much sympathise that £45 may be a stretch for some fans in today's world I don't think it is out of line with any other PL club. You have to appreciate that the club has to stay in line with FFP guidelines (at least while they exist) and also operate as a successful business. We can't expect to be a top team with top players and yet expect the club to provide reduced ticket prices (especially when we are top of the league and current Champions). I think our owners have done way more than many other owners in terms of trying to engage and understand the fanbase, they have also always tried to keep ticket prices on the reasonable side compared to most if not all other top 6 clubs. The other issue is that many fans (who do have the money) are just happy to watch on TV rather than go out for midweek games against mid/low positioned teams.

The average price on the Facebook page for a ticket for tonight is £20

City's pricing for some of these games is all over the place. They make a rod for their own backs by pricing them too high based on them originally being weekend fixtures (when more people can attend), but when they get rearranged to midweek, many fans who may want to go are not prepared to pay £42-£45 a ticket. The cheapest tickets were £30 which was the 3rd tier of the South Stand that Brighton returned and they've all sold, but across the rest of the ground they're a hard sell. This game was actually practically a sell out in the home areas when it was originally scheduled to be played on Saturday 19th March, but once we got through to the FA Cup QF and it was rearranged, plenty of fans couldn't attend and stuck their seats up for resale on the exchange.

Watford on Saturday is totally different - while many blocks are showing as available, there's hardly any seats in any of them

i do think stadium atmosphere is based on team momentum.

Tonight is likely to be a bit timid if the game stays level and cagey, but if we win the next couple i think the atmosphere will be bouncing for the rest of the season.

I can't believe a team that are current Champions and fighting for a succesive title (and came from the brink of oblivion before the Sheikh came along) should be having timid atmospheres because our momentum has dropped a little. We are supposed to be supporters not just spectators

I take the point that we have to pay for it if we want to see Haaland, KDB, Bernado etc in an FFP context. That said It’s not just prices mate. Having to queue up at the ticket office on match days because tickets haven’t been posted out. Having the ticket points set an arbitrary 22k for Kun’s last game to allow anyone whose ever written a blog about City to get in to the game before lifelong fans, selling so many tickets through agencies etc.

Tonight should be bouncing. Get behind the boys and help them on their way to #8.

Remember, it's not just joining in with songs - just be noisy generally. Boos, jeers, applause, cheering, whistling... that's what makes a good atmosphere.

agree, lets clap a good move and a good tackle, whistle at a shit ref are tackle, go mental when we score, applause on corners. This also is atmosphere...

we all have a moan about ticket price and rightly so, but if tonight was 5k down on usual there are still 45k plus fans in there, thats plenty to make a noise.

If its quiet tonight you know why ? The fans are quiet. No excuses, win this and we are top of the league, if that doesnt excite you go on twitter.
