By the way do you have any info on Kirchhoff he played in all the pre season games except this one, im curious why Pep didnt play him over a not fully fit Dante and an abysmal DvB. other than that decision i thinke everything else was pretty much outta Pep's hands.....

I've not heard anything about why he picked the team he did, I think he is still experimenting tbh.
We still have almost two weeks til the BL start, the cup game a week next Monday should surely be a formality.

Just a quickie though Bladrerunner, why isn't Herr Uli in jail yet?
Probably because he hasn't been convicted of anything yet ?

I can only draw two conclusions to why Thiago played as a DM, 1) Pep is an idiot 2) Martinez and Gustavo are extremely unfit!

Schweinsteiger could have started there. Martinez and Gustavo could have played a half each. Was just a baffling decision from Pep as was signing Thiago in the first place.

Schweinsteiger is not fit right now. He just came back from surgery and is in a slowly build up. Saturday he played 20 minutes - today it was 25.

Guardiola is building on an altered system with some other tasks for some of the players. So it is not only about getting fit but also about knowing the system. He does not want to build Baycelona - but the team certainly did not play perfect last year and if you want to stay on top you have to get better and make alterations. The test matches showed a lot playing through the middle - whereas last year we mostly played over the wing. Too have more possibilities just helps...

Martinez did not play until now - not a minute. He seems to have some injury problems right now, too. Gustavo and Dante just came back into training last week, too.

Too play like this against Dortmund was risky - but actually - Guardiola did not even have a choice.
Schweinsteiger could have started the first half then, if he played 25 minutes the other day. Would have been better than playing Thiago.

Guardiola is messing with the strongest team in the world for no reason. Bayern won the treble last year.

Sorry Guardiola had lots of choices and he has made bad ones apart from signing Gotze. This much only drove home the criticisms I have made before.

You lack defensive cover. DVB, may no longer be at the required level and Kirchoff is young and unproven.

I said Muller would suffer under Pep and I bet one of them ends up going very shortly.

Let's all keep our feet on the ground here. Bayern have lost one game against a very very good side and we are still in pre-season.
The players are seemingly happy with the new system and have battered Gladbach, HSV and beaten an under strength but still very capable Barcelona.
We have a great side but we'll still lose games from time to time, that's football.

Bayern still have so many quality players they will challenge on all fronts, but this does not mean they will be as strong as they should be. This is not based on one game, but watching a few of your preason matches and what I have seen from Pep.

If Dortmund can sign another world class player to compete/ take Kuba's position then the league becomes very interesting.

EDIT
Strange that Schweinsteiger is up for footballer of the year. I don't see how he had a better season than Reus or Lahm.

I wasn't too disappointed with the general play tbh, don't forget that Müller hit the bar while we were 3-2 down and the fourth Dortmund goal was offside.
Dortmund definately deserved to win on the day but both sides played well. More to the point if it had been a BL or a cup game neither side would have been quite as gung-ho as they were yesterday.

Strange that Schweinsteiger is up for footballer of the year. I don't see how he had a better season than Reus or Lahm.

Reus is 11th - and I do not understand why he should be judged better than that.

They judge the overall season - in all competitions. On international level a "Robben" might even have more votes as much seem to have seen only the CL final...

It German sportjournalists that vote for it - about 580 votes.

The results
1 Schweinsteiger, Bastian Bayern München 92
2 Ribery, Franck Bayern München 87
3 Müller, Thomas Bayern München 85
4 Lewandowski, Robert Borussia Dortmund 55
5 Lahm, Philipp Bayern München 38
6 Kießling, Stefan Bayer Leverkusen 35
7 Götze, Mario Borussia Dortmund 19
8 Gündogan, Ilkay Borussia Dortmund 18
9 Weidenfeller, Roman Borussia Dortmund 16
10 Robben, Arjen Bayern München 15

One to three are very close.
(5 of the first 7 are Bavaria born)

The coach of the year awards are pretty clear:

1 Heynckes, Jupp Bayern München 383
2 Streich, Christian SC Freiburg 77
3 Klopp, Jürgen Borussia Dortmund 19
4 Weinzierl, Markus FC Augsburg 13

Im assuming Gustavo, Schwein, and Martinez weren't deemed fit so he was forced to play Thiago there. As a players Thiago was great but as a DM he was bad. The only decision i cant figure out is why Kirchhoff didnt play....

Because Reus was brilliant this season in all competitions and deserved to be higher.

Schweinsteiger in no way was better than Lahm, Muller or Ribery even at Bayern. Just like when Bale won the award it seems like the media just vote for the biggest names rather than merit.
