Yeah I see what you mean there SWP. I didn't read it properly. Deleted the post anyway but the point I was making is that in serious circumstances like that, personally I wouldn't say anything at all. Decent people always fall into the trap of justifying what they have done. Criminals keep quiet for a reason. I'd calm down, and speak to a good solicitor first.

I wouldn't think twice about doing time for this.... if someone came onto my property to rob my stuff I'd slit their throats.

You have to think about what "doing time" means long term but. It's not just biding your time in jail for a few years. You are forever labeled as a murderer, opportunities in life become severely limited. You can not travel outside of the EU. Getting a job is near impossible, getting credit, etc. Anyone who can look you up, will know that you are a murderer and because of the label, facts don't mean shit.

I'd definitely think twice about it.

As I say, I will NEVER buy a new or flash car again whilst living anywhere near Manchester. Just not worth the hasstle.

What a shit state this country is in if a man can't spend the money he works hard for without fear of some **** taking it off him.

Fair enough, maybe you're in a position with nothing to lose, I already have a criminal record and this hinders me all the time even though the conviction of Affray was nearly a decade ago now.
Society encourages repeat offenders which is why this burglary happened in the first place.

The CRB system is great for stopping peado's and so on from working with kids but %99 of the time it's used by employers to sift out "scum" like me who just want to earn an honest living.

I'll be the guy in the balaclava in a few years time, robbing that post office.

I think he should be put in jail.
Although I think you should be able to defend your property and damage the person in doing so you shouldn't be allowed to kill them unless it's kill or be killed.

if someone tried to break into my property while my kids sleep they are getting it.
i have done it before when living on sale racecourse estate.
my missus woke me up in the night saying she could hear some one breaking in, i ran downstairs and this guy was halfway in my living room window.
I picked up my rounders bat and cracked him round the face twice.
He ran away and i never found out who it was but ill tell you this if a knife was the first thing i was able to get hold of that's what i would have used without a doubt.
and if you think its not right ill tell you another story.
in the same house whilst i was at work at a pub i got a phone call from my missus in a right state.
when i had ran all the way home i walked in to see my missus with a huge blackeye.
she had left the back door unlocked for me while she went and got a bath.after getting out of the bath she could hear someone downstairs opening and closing cupboards and drawers in my kitchen.
Thinking it was me she proceeded to walk down stairs and as she got to the bottom someone jumped out from round the door and knocked her out, she was left unconcious for god knows how long while my 2 and 3 year old kids where asleep in their beds.
so on that note, would i kill some one who was tresspassing on my property?
Fucking right i would!

same as you si....i'm afraid i would fight to the death for my kids n family...dont take any chances, twat the fuckers first and worry later

i would do some serious damage though
