To be honest, that sounds less like a burglary and more like a gang attack.

Doesn't to me.

When I was burgled, 4 blokes in balaclava's broken in through the patio door and came upstairs to ask for the key to the SLK. I shat it. I wish I'd had the chance to stab one. Cunts. I hope it's the same gang, I really do.

Dead boy won't be breaking into anyone's house tonight or any other night.

That's nice for the rest of us to know.

That sounds like a horrific experience mate. Same thing happened to my sis-in-law. They had one of those door breakers the cops use when they do a raid, which they used to get through the porch initially, then through the wooden front door. My bro was away at the time on business so it was just her and 2 little dogs in the bedroom, (this was at 3am). They shouted up for the keys to her Golf 4-Motion, which she said they weren't having, (bro not impressed with that, he said she should've just given them to them). After that came the threats of rape, which they would do if the keys weren't handed over. At this point the neighbours are all in the street watching this happen. 3 of the blokes were outside and one was half way up the stairs. The dogs were going mad and she said she would let them loose if the guy didn't leave. Something spooked them in the end and they got away empty handed, but it scarred her for life that ordeal, so much so that they now live down South. Scum of the fucking earth mate.

This 'reasonable force' that is the yardstick for all of these cases has never been properly explained by any of the judiciary, police or politicians, as it is by its very nature ambiguous. I would certainly not give a flying fuck how hard I twatted some thieving/raping/psychotic, or genuinely mentally unbalanced intruder, the latter maybe having some justification for his actions.
Nobody in this situation has the instinct to smack somebody 'just hard enough,' and this is where the perceived unfairness of the system comes in, as it is constantly debated, should the attacker be killed. The best advice I suppose is to lamp them as hard as possible with whatever comes to hand, be it bat, club or knife, then plead fear and no other choice, because the intruder was attacking you.
Safe than sorry, as they say.

The problem with just hard enough is that how do you control it with 14 tons of adrenalin coursing through your body, you would probably think you tapped them but gone in with a force of a train
No jury in the country is going to find you guilty of murder if you only smacked a burglar once, no matter how hard. In fact most juries will give you much more leeway than that. The problem comes when people properly go to town on them. I remember one case where 2 or 3 guys chased a burglar down the street and battered him to death with a baseball bat about a hundred metres away. Whether the little shit deserved it or not, that is quite clearly murder. Do what you have to do to remain safe and you'll be alright. Just don't try to be a hero by going too far.

This sounds more like a targeted gang attack than a simple burglary, but without knowing the full details of this particular case, I'd be amazed if he is found guilty of murder. He may well face a murder charge and have to go to court over it, but any jury will side with his version of events over the word of three cunts in balaclavas (and that's making the wild assumption that they'd even testify).

I have an 2 foot iron bar next to my bed. If I ever heard anyone coming up my stairs, my little lad is my priority and I'm not sorry to say that if I felt my baby was gonna be hurt in his bed I'd happily decapitate the guy.

Not neccesarily....

A 20-year-old robbery suspect killed by a Charlotte Subway restaurant employee was shot four times from behind, according to an autopsy report released this week....
In March, Mecklenburg District Attorney Andrew Murray announced the Subway employee who fired the fatal shots would not be charged. In a statement, the district attorney said he didn't believe a jury would convict the man.

Re: Burglar stabbed to death, Manchester

I've used the 'minimum force necessary to protect myself' line in the past. Not 'reasonable force'.
What is reasonable to one person is over the top for another.
Never say 'I've used reasonable force'.

This ain't your bog standard burglary, there's more to this yet.

As I said on page 1... I suspect there might be more to this than a simple burglary gone wrong.

I've only been burgled once, when I was out. But for the next 6 months I slept with a knife and iron bar by the side of the bed praying that they'd try it again!

I honestly think if someone is trying to break into your property in an attempt to endager your life then you should be able to take what ever means necessary to prevent them from doing so.

bang on.
