Burton (First Leg) Post Match Thread

Again completely agree, Clough asked if there were any positives, he said exactly that.

I refuse to let the media make me feel embarrassed by how ruthless we were, we played some great football, I don't remember the media ever saying that about united when they beat ipswich 9-0 in a PL game, so they can f**k off for me.
Or when the dippers put 9 past Palace in the league (before losing to them in the FA Cup semifinal).

I enjoyed that game much more then the Rotherham one. We were fantastic and tbh I didn’t think burton were that bad....

The atmosphere was actually decent tonight aswell which was good.

Genuinely gutted we didn’t get 10. The last 5 minutes was the best part.

All respect to Burton, they tried their best, this is what Cup games are all about, little clubs playing big clubs, no need for City to ease off, Burton get their payday and their players get to tell their grandkids all about it, so its great for everyone concerned.

At least we can hold our head high and say we paid them and the cup the respect deserved by fielding a strong team. Nothing short of a professional display. A bit laboured at times but credit to Burton for making it as difficult as they could. At least they showed some intent instead of just sitting back.

No doubt we will be slated for scoring 9 by the media, stating money etc etc etc.
There was nothing derogatory said in the media when Spurs smashed Rochdale the other month[emoji848][emoji848] which I reminded my Spud mate of, when he slated us about us only playing Sunday League teams to get to the final.

I have to say what was the best thing about tonight was that we won with respect. No show boating no taking the piss just playing our game against a team that weren't of equivalent standard. Burton have no reason for any shame for being beaten by a team streets ahead of them.

Odd that the media keep mentioning Liverpool winning 10 - 0 v Fulham in the league cup (still record single match score) over 30 years ago. Why was that not disrespectful too ? That was 4-0 at half time and they scored 4 in the last 20 minutes. Why did they not ease up?

Oh and they had 13,400 fans at Anfield. We had over 35,000 tonight. Why were there not more goals than fans at Liverpool when the ratio was 1 goal for 1340 fans at Anfield and 1 goal for nearly 4000 tonight?

Just so we can out disrespect Liverpool further they won the away leg 3-2 and that result - 13-2 is still the biggest aggregate win over two legs.

So we know what to do - score 5 at Burton and then Liverpool can lose all that terrible disrespect against Fulham they must have had to live with for so long. As I am sure yopu all remember them being criticised over.

lorry with illegal immigrants in it was the reason for the closure of the M6, not a crash, seems like plod made a meal of it to me
Fucking hell, I knew there were cuts, but I didn't think they were reduced to eating immigrants.

Great post, they played football, imagine that had been cardiff in the semi, we'd probably be missing half the team for 3 months.

They played some good stuff, another decent footballing side from the lower leagues, it’s what you’d like to see if you were a Burton fan instead of kick and rush like Cardiff. Just got back and watching again and they did knock it about neatly at times.
