Can we afford to let Barry go?

Can't fault the logic.
Said exactly the same on deadline day. Same applies in other areas too, Jovetic, just doesn't have the same desire & will to win that Tevez did... Despite what Tikki and Soriano say...Does our Lower wage policy automatically equate to the arrival of inferior players... Just a thought !!

We have let two warriors leave recently tevez and dejong and we havent replaced them , they both left because they were not offered new deals , £150k-£250k a week buys world class , £80k-£100k buys good players ,( Arsenal have signed Ozil on an apparent £250k a week , hes world class)modern football will always have a common denominator ,money.

I think most fans had been won over by Gaz Barry's good performances so I don't know where this he wasnt appreciated angle comes from. He certainly got a lot of support on this forum in recent times.

Barry was outstanding for Everton today. I don't like to say it but I feel Gareth being English may have counted against him in the new City regime.

There will be certain times / games this season when we'll miss him. Let's just hope they're not critical.

Good luck Gaz Baz.

Hmmmmm................................

Not true Tevez was offered a new deal he did not want to stay. Same thing i believe for NDJ people need to fucking move on. Players leave thats part of the game. Jovetic you cannot say he has no desire he has played 1 GAME. let the kid settle a little he seemed to be to go after every ball so idk what the no desire you are talking about.

Well after today I guess the Everton fans are glad they've got a past it midfielder. Sometimes doing you're job is not enough for some, maybe he should have set fire to his house and changed his name so it sounded foreign.

He had an absolute blinder today for Everton and I am sure they'll be laughing there cocks off us letting him go on loan. But you're right if he was called Flopinho and we'd spent £30mil on him then there would be many on here stroking the fat one proclaiming him as the new Messiah.

Make no mistake Pellers dropped a bollock letting Barry go.

I am a fan of Jovetic mate so your point are a bit irrelevant. Secondly Gaz Baz wasn't offered a new deal as far as I know.

I don't think Pellers really had a say in it, the word came from above...it is now all about FFP and £££££'s.

Barry allows us to push Yaya forward which has been a very effective weapon for us in the past, he also is very good at sitting in front of the back four breaking up play, something no one else in the squad seems able to do.

Barry is a fantastic player, letting him go for free to Everton was a diabolical decision.

in the current system gaz baz would struggle

however his tidy neat passing is being missed especially today against teams thar press us high

one of my favorite city players

Said it all summer that if we let Barry go without an adequate replacement it will come back to bite us.

Yaya and Fern' aren't 'tacklers' like Barry which you need in the league.

Milner for some reason is played on the right, Garcia isn't good enough and Rodwell is injury prone.

We didn't do as well in the transfer market as many have proclaimed.

I could understand GB's departure better if we had a bunch of great kids waiting to step up. He may not fit ideally with MP's favoured playing style but that does not look too effective at the moment.

The last sentence is very true. We needed an Ozil type player and someone who can defend properly.

Barry wasn't good enough to be offered a new contract but we haven't replaced either him or kolo properly.

We look short of creativity and just poor at the minute

DIhno is a better tackler than Barry. He is faster, anticipates as well, and light years quicker. Barry's neat passing and astute movement when we had the ball, is what sets him apart. Even today against Chelsea, the ball often bypassed him. Had one great last man tackle, but that was it all game. defensively he spent the rest of the game fouling after he had been beaten.

We romanticize our ex-players too much. When he was here, many made him the scapegoat until Garcia came and relieved him of that title. Now suddenly, he is the answer to our defensive woes? Come on folks, lets not get silly about this.

Points well made and hard to argue with.

We have hedged our bets on replacements that given the outlay Barry would only replace if they were injured or out of form.

All of the players we have let go to other premier league clubs in recent times were incapable of stepping up to what is required at a club expected to be challenging for honours at home and in Europe.

Barry will be a valued member at Everton , he is a seasoned professional but lets be honest at 32 , Chumps League , International football and for where we need to be he has passed us by.

Unfortunately none of our new players have really hit the ground running and it seems apparent already that we will need to change our formation to better handle the rigours of the premiership.

Don't come in here with your making sense non sense. There is no need.

Thought Gaz Baz had a good game for the Toffees today, pity we let him go as he would have been quite useful in this current timeframe given our defensive frailties.
