Can we surpass last season?

Scudamore has decreed that we won’t! Of course we can - and probably will - retain the Premiership Trophy but I expect it to go down to the last couple of games and 90 or thereabouts points. (Please, though, no last minute dramas!) Agree with several posters on here that, despite Pep’s recent comments, there will be an all-out assault on the CL, wherever we stand in the league come February. Pep will surely want this one on his CV before he leaves us.

the chances of us getting more then 100 points are very slim. i think last season was a one off and most teams in history never make that level. hopefully city fans arent too disappointed though and start moaning everytime we dont beat someone 4-0

Points tallies of champions in Spain before Pep got there and after,

02 - 75pts
03 - 78pts
04 - 77pts
05 - 84pts
06 - 82pts
07 - 76pts
08 - 85pts
-
09 - 87pts
10 - 99pts
11 - 96pts
12 - 100pts
13 - 100pts
14 - 90pts
15 - 94pts

The average before Pep arriving is 79 points to win La Liga, The average since Pep arrived at Barcelona is 95. He had a dramatic change on what you had to do to win La Liga.

He said when we won the title that we've "raised the level" of the Premier League. I believe him, and I think while Guardiola is in the country, no one will win the league win the league with <95 points.

We might not quite get 100, but I think we'll get very close, and if you combine that with more trophies then I guess he'll have surpassed 17/18.

We can definitely improve our home form. We 'only' gained 50 points last season. Both our other title wins we had a better record and without even checking I know Utd and Chelsea have had 55 points out of 57 seasons so at least 5th best in pL era.

I don’t think so however this weekend we have an opportunity to gain 2 more points than we did last season as we only drew with Huddersfield at home.

If you had to pick one would people take us winning the CL and the rags winning the league or us winning the league and the rags the CL?

Looking at that game again, assuming Mendy settles down & Ederson hasn't actually become Joe Hart overnight, imo it's all down to fitness.

If the players can reach the same fitness levels as last season & maintain it, we are a better side imo & we can do it again. Most of the outfield mistakes, underhit passes, are tired legs & general lack of fitness. The players who came back from the World Cup fittest (mainly the English lads plus Bernardo & Serge) will have to maintain it (not easy).

If we are fit enough, we can do it, deffo imo. If not, it will be a hard slog & some teams will turn us over.
