Casual staff at City - club confirm they will be paid

It will be interesting to see if they continue down that road when bailout monies are paid by the FA to clubs and the PL possibly pump cash into the game to keep clubs afloat?
yup, my thoughts exactly.. the club are still receiving money from FA/premier league & EFL so interesting whether they choose to keep it... I did ask what am I supposed to tell my landlord, but had nothing back.

Sorry then I think you`re a little naive if you don`t think its the media.I can`t be any clearer ref how City operate.
You’ve said you know how City operate. However I don’t as I’ve not seen PR strategies and what outcomes they lead to etc. If you’ve seen or know of them than of course I defer to you. That’s only right.
However if you don’t have the inside knowledge then you’re voicing things as you see them or your interpretation which is fine. But if so, let me voice mine then.
As I mentioned previously there’s 3 elements to this whole media thing in my view. The mainstream media which has been horrific to us- I completely agree. To constantly denigrate one of the greatest post war teams and to relegate the beautiful football behind all the click, rag and LiVARpool shite is terrible. We’ve clearly lost this to date but I accept the club has a strategy and is playing the long game.
Second element is our own fans- not the fucking Daily Mail etc but US. The third is the moral dimension. We want our players and club to have some sort of moral compass. They don’t have to be Nelson Mandela but quite rightly we never could support Ben Thatcher or Adam Johnson and many feel Toure’s behaviour to be poor etc etc.
We all know the link between the club and fans, especially local ones has been getting weaker. I and many others think we’ve got the balance a bit wrong.
However I just feel disappointed that not only around this issue but everything to do with the virus has been poor in terms of our fans and doing the right thing. I see it as connecting the moral I.e show you care about the people who sustain the club and who are facing in many cases dreadful times). I’ve been going since 1972, I’ve immunosuppressed with a transplant kidney essentially kept going with steroids. Add other things like diabetes and I’ve been self isolating for 3 weeks and will probably need to do so maybe unti the vaccines comes. I’m lucky enough to have got a transplant when many just die so I am scared stiff of losing it as I probably won’t get another. My wife and step son are also scared so they are self isolating too. I’m no different to other blues, some will have died around the world, many will be in much worse situations but almost every blue in the world will have some anxiety over jobs, loved ones etc.
So why can’t City actually show a little empathy which could also have been done through the CFG to all the club’s fans in the group? We’ve stood by the club, just even a statement that they care would do. I don’t care that other clubs might not do it- I want my club to do it.
There you are. I’ve gone over the top but I just think this is symptomatic of where the club has lost the connection with the fans to a large degree. Just look at the club statements about the postponed games- no apology for fans whive made arrangements etc.

So are they letting you go?
If they’re keeping you but no work because of situation, the government will pay you 80% of your salary.
How do I go about claiming that? or will PVFC do it? they've just put the season on hold obviously currently due to start back 30th Apr

Quite a few clubs are paying staff members regardless of circumstances right now. We should be doing the same thing.

To much discussion about rags and the media on here. Doesn’t matter. The club should be doing something right now

My wife works for City on matchdays. She is employed directly by MCFC and her wage slips are from City. She hasn’t missed working a game in over 3 years often going in ill or getting up at 4.30am for a 12.30 ko or coming home after midnight in all weathers after a night game. She is over £500 down due to recent postponements. She emailed the club on Monday to ask what the club intended to do only to be met by silence. In the meantime Brighton , Palace and even Liverpool and United have announced that they will continue to pay matchday staff during the suspension! It’s extremely poor from City though I fully expect the players and execs will continue to be paid millions? To make it worse she is a huge City fan and prior to her working there we were seasoncard holders for over 15 years!

United’s email to matchday staff

Subject: Dear Colleague

Dear colleague,

You are a valued part of the team that, in normal circumstances, allows us to deliver to supporters the outstanding matchday experiences for which Manchester United is renowned.

As such, we appreciate that the past few weeks must have been an unsettling time as our business has become disrupted by the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) and the UK Government advice to limit social interaction.

We continue to monitor the rapidly-evolving situation on a day-by-day basis. As you know, all Premier League games are postponed until at least April 30 and it is uncertain when we will be able to resume normal operations.

In these circumstances, we felt it was right to clarify what our approach would be for our loyal casual workers should the remaining Premier League home games be cancelled or played behind closed doors.

To help reduce the financial impact of such an outcome, as a goodwill gesture we will pay you the equivalent to what you would have been expected to earn over those remaining four games.

This sum will be calculated for each individual based on the number of games that you have worked over the 10 games up to the end of February, to arrive at an estimate of your average match day earnings for the next four matches. The monies will be paid to your bank account in four instalments on the dates on which the remaining games were scheduled to take place.

If you have any queries please email: people.services@manutd.co.uk

We hope that this clarification provides you with a measure of comfort in these uncertain times and demonstrates the importance we attach to the critical role you play.

Please stay alert for further updates from us when plans for future games become clearer following Government advice and guidance from the Premier League.

We look forward to welcoming back our supporters to Old Trafford – and the teammates that serve them so well – as soon as we are advised it is appropriate to do so.

In the meantime, please accept our best wishes to you and your loved ones.

Director of Group Human Resources

Depressing story that mate and very sad to hear. The sums involved are minuscule to City but to staff not knowing will add another layer of anxiety at a very anxious time.

Its maybe a little simplistic but football clubs, with regards the type of monies involved, would make a decision in seconds if it would smooth through a transfer deal but seem slow to react to resolve this for loyal staff. Just hope it get resolved as quickly as possible for all those affected.
