Good, might make people turn up to cup games next year
I'm on 2440. I went to all the home cup games. Though you're probably on the wind up, I think you need to look further up the loyalty points greasy pole for the no-shows.

Fact is, everyone knew that on the first day there'd be a mad rush. A weekend combined with a large amount of people being eligible due to the cup scheme. You're not going to see anything like that again throughout the sales period, so people saying it won't go to 2000 are wide of the mark. The club said they expected everyone with 2000+ to be able to buy one, and I can't see that having changed just because of a big queue on the first day.
Most sensible post of the thread. Club knows how many ST holders they have with 2000+ points, how many Cup Scheme members below 2000 points and how many tickets left after the other allocations so it's simple maths after that.

I think Halfpenny is right. Day 1 you had the extra people from the Cup Scheme.

I am going tomorrow, just trying to work out what time is best. Really don't want to stand in a queue for 4 hours.

Yep. Cup scheme and those with circa 3000 points buying with people with people on 6000+ as a group. As I say, the first day was always going to be the spike.

That is not all staff, probably coaching staff and office staff but certainly not stewards who I understand have to go in a ballot. I do not see anything wrong with this and is what I would expect at every club.

Why?

Does the woman on the checkout at Tesco get free food when they launch a new product?

And even if they did, it is still not really comparable as it would not affect other Tesco customers' access to the product.

These people are employees. They are paid to do a job.

Of course people on the playing and coaching side of things are going to get hold of tickets - and in a way, seeing as their efforts got us there, it is justifiable - but are you saying that you really think that someone who works in the club shop or the ticket office or some other office job is more deserving of a ticket than the season ticket holder who is first in line when they run out?

For free too?

I doubt it. Imagine going for years, for whatever reason having a lowish amount of point and then seeing what could have been your seat occupied by Maureen from the ticket office who barely watches football or Derek the steward who is actually a rag.
I dont know about the shop staff, they do work for kitbag now?
As i said for the stewards this is a ballot and if derek the rag puts his name in and gets one I am sure the blue stewards would make it known to the club.
as for other businesses, in what ever sphere of life - if the business does well the staff usually get rewarded in some way. Since only 20,000 of our loyal band have attended some of our cup games it is not unreasonable to allow staff to take tickets. Once we start to sell out for cup games year on year then the club will have to look at it.
For anyone "going for years" and having a "lowish" amount of points "for whatever reason" - I can explain the reason for you - 1) only a season ticket puts you in line for a Wembley ticket but the bottom line is 2) you don't go to enough games. Sorry if the truth is a bit blunt for you to take but there it is - but as we are only imagining this person it cant hurt can it.
So Maureen, thanks for working for the club in whatever department that is and I hope your day out at Wembley makes you realise (if you dont already know) the passion we have for the club. Now I am only imagining this as I know you are a city fan anyway but I know you have to work on match days so you dont have a season ticket so you couldnt apply in your own right.

There are a thousand what ifs but the bottom line is that a system is in place that has not changed for a long time and we get a big game and there are thousands with excuses why they dont have enough points.
Its simple - go to games and get points - dont go to games and you end up watching it on the telly.

It has already been shown elsewhere in BM that a first year season ticket holder who went to the cup games this season would have enough to meet the suggested 2000 cut off so i dont get why you are concerned with non season ticket holders who only go to a few games.

Which Maureen are we talking about?

My concern is that as many City fans as possible get to attend this game and that it is determined in the fairest way possible.

Now, it seems your opinion is that it only concerns you that a decent chunk of City fans get to go but then you aren't bothered that a large chunk of tickets then get distributed, some free of charge to as many freeloaders and hangers on as possible.

Let me repeat, businesses rarely 'reward' their staff at the expense of access to the product for their loyal, paying customer.

So when you have a limited product, yeah, I don't want someone who may or may not be a City fan, or may call themselves a City fan purely because they have a bit of affinity to their workplace, getting to jump the queue ahead of a proper fan.

I also find it a bit strange that you also seem to think that someone who has a season ticket with a low amount of points is worthy of your disparaging attempts to criticise their loyalty and worthiness of attending, yet you are quite happy to stand up for the right of some steward or ticket office employee, who may or may not be a City fan, who may or may not have a real interest in football, who may or may not have been interested in going if it meant sorting themselves out, in their place.

Strange choices of which one to defend and which one to attack.

You can also cut out the "here's your day out, hope you realise the passion we have for the club" rhetoric, as if it is some sort of Road to Damacus crusade with tear jerking music when some free loader decides that they might actually become a proper fan as Howard Webb blows the full time whistle. If you have to stoop to that to justify it then you know you are struggling.

And if you think that the club are going to hold a ballot for stewards, draw out a winner, it happen to be a rag and then take the ticket off him then you must be mental. There would be uproar. And rightly so.

So, to summarise, I want the season ticket holder who is next in line, who will be missing out on this game, say with 2500 points, to get the opportunity to go to this game.

You, on the other hand want him to miss out and, in his place, a random employee (AND THEIR GUEST), regardless of whether they are a fan or have an interest in football or not, to go. Oh, and for free.

So, when you start banging on about there being a points system in place and defending people missing out because they don't have enough points, think about how stupid that sounds when you want them to miss out for people with zero points (AND THEIR GUESTS).

(PS: why do I get the impression you have a vested interest in this?)

So for all those who have got tickets so far, which is the best method... phone or at the ground.

I am still trying to get Tuesday morning off work so I can get to the ground, but if people are being quite sucessfull on the phone i might not both and just call from work?

What are peoples thoughts experiences?
