Cavani Speculation/News 3 (or 4)

so i guess we are still at the stage where we were a few days ago...he looks more likely to go to chelsea if you believe a lot of the media hype though his mother has come out and said we along with madrid are in talks with him....

I still believe that if the player has a choice it will be

1st Madrid
2nd Chelsea
3rd Us

If it comes down to who coughs up the money first it will be Chelsea

I disagree.

The media is determined to push through a Chelsea deal hence the constant linking of Chelsea with the player.

I ask you to closely watch and listen to Cavani's latest interview you know the one where he talked about playing for Mourinho only (according to the press) and I assure you that with proper observation your opinion will change. As I said, listen to his words carefully.

Whatever his mother said is actually irrelevant in the business of things but from that interview I can confidently say that he actually wants to join City and has no interest in going to Spain.

Morning all..Let's try to keep on topic today..

So the Daily Fail now reporting that we have moved ahead of Chelsea and Cavanis representatives are in talks with City officials...

Yet the Fail reported that Chelsea had signed him, then Madrid were favourites..

I am quietly confident we can get this deal sorted.

As Mr Holmes says I'm sure we have always been favourites and ADL is just feeding tit bits to the italian media.

I think if we sign Edison and Isco then the squad pretty much is sorted apart from a few sales. Hope Joleon stays also

There's what looks like a well informed article in the Telegraph which says that CFC are not actively in for Cavani regarding it as too expensive. They are looking at other forwards. I say well informed because it has information about board room changes at CFC.

Chelsea refuse to take part in bid war for £53m Edinson Cavani and turn attentions to Robert Lewandowski
Chelsea have finally agreed an £18 million deal to sign Germany international André Schürrle, but will not enter a bidding war for Napoli striker Edinson Cavani and are now considering a move for Borussia Dortmund’s Robert Lewandowski instead.

Cavani is among the targets being pursued by Chelsea as new manager Jose Mourinho is given the funds to strengthen his forward line.
It will contain Schürrle, who can play on the left of a three-man attack, after a deal was finally thrashed out with Bayer Leverkusen for the 22-year-old.
Telegraph Sport revealed a year ago that Chelsea were bidding for Schürrle, who had been identified as a potential signing by Andre Villas-Boas when he was the club’s manager.
At that time, Leverkusen refused to sell and the club had been holding out for a deal which would include taking Kevin de Bruyne on loan.
Neither De Bruyne, who preferred a permanent move to Dortmund if he was to leave Chelsea, nor Mourinho favoured that option and it now appears that the Belgium international will be given a chance at Stamford Bridge.

Leverkusen sanctioned the sale of Schürrle, “subject to the completion of legal documentation and related matters, including personal terms and passing a medical”, only after agreeing to buy Korea international Son Heung-Min from Hamburg.
Chelsea’s pursuit of a new front-line striker is less certain. There is interest in Cavani but the club have consistently stated he is over-priced and that they will not enter a bidding war that could also include Real Madrid.
Both Chelsea and Manchester City, who had been favourites to sign the 26-year-old Uruguayan, are balking at the £53 million buy-out clause.
Reports in Italy on Thursday claimed Chelsea had submitted a revised offer of £42.5 million but this was strenuously denied by club sources.
At the same time, Cavani’s mother, Berta Gómez, was quoted as having told Uruguayan radio that her son “is talking to Madrid and City”. She added: “The Napoli president, Aurelio De Laurentis, has spoken to Chelsea but there’s nothing concrete.”
Chelsea have been considering other options, including Fiorentina’s Stefan Jovetic – even though he is a different type of striker – City’s Edin Dzeko and Manchester United's Wayne Rooney.
A more recent addition to their considerations has been Lewandowski after Dortmund announced they would not sell the Poland striker to Bayern Munich.
United have been pushing hard for the 23-year-old, who is priced at £25 million even though he has just one more year left on his contract, but their interest has cooled meaning that Chelsea might make their move.
Meanwhile, Chelsea will announce on Friday that Marina Granovskaia, who has been a senior adviser to Roman Abramovich for 17 years, is joining the club’s plc and executive boards as a director.
Granovskaia becomes a main board director along with chairman Bruce Buck, chief executive Ron Gourlay and director Eugene Tenenbaum, a key associate of Abramovich who has spent less time at Chelsea recently as he has been involved in other businesses.
Chelsea stress it is not a sign of Abramovich trying to take a firmer grip on the club. Instead, it recognises the value of Granovskaia who, since 2010, has been more heavily involved in the running of Chelsea acting as the owner’s representative, working with the club’s directors, and liaising with the manager.
However, because of the high-profile nature of Chelsea, and role the club have in world football, Granovskaia will immediately be regarded as one of the most powerful women directors in the sport.
Chelsea believe the appointment will simplify the decision-making process and the ease with which lines of communication will be available to Abramovich.
Granovskaia was born in Russia and has dual Russian and Canadian citizenship, having graduated from Moscow State University in 1997 before working at Sibneft, the oil company formally owned by Abramovich.
Since then she has become Abramovich’s de facto chief of staff, looking after various business interests while her involvement with Chelsea has grown.

It really is in the best interest of City to communicate with Chelsea during the window. For the sake of our chequebooks its best do what Barcelona and Real Madrid have done for years and just keep a hands off policy on most signings. Of course there will be situations like Neymar but for the most part these two clubs do a great job of ransacking La Liga and leaving the rest with leftovers.

If City and Chelsea want to monopolize the top half of the table for the next 10 years we might as well stop bidding one another into debt. Especially when there are like for like options for each of us out there (Cavani / Lewandowski)

Is Cavani worth more than Sergio Aguero?
Yes because we need a world class striker, so many chances missed last season. He is well worth the money imho.

He's not better player than Sergio. Sergio has proven in 2 Spain and England he is a world class player.
Cavani is never worth the asking price and it would be idiotic to pay the 53mill askin price. He has no real competition in Napoli and the whole team is build around him. He wont get that at City and just look at his National team record where he has to share the load with other great strikers.
I agree Sergio is the better striker however in today's market the prices are going higher. Clubs know all about the extra Billions from Sky and are holding out for a bigger
Piece of it.

-- Fri Jun 14, 2013 7:48 am --

Help what is 'wumming'
Wind up merchant , ie someone who should be banned for deliberately causing false hope and delighting the the ensuing dispair of fellow blue. Shameful if you ask me.

Looks like we are going the Spanish way with players from Spain and South America (Brasil is Portugese, yet close enough). That's why I think getting in a Spanish-like manager is very important.
Chelsea seems to implant Belgium and Germany in their ranks.
Arsenal has been mainly a French side for years, and were recently joined by Newcastle.
United? Not a fck clue. But their players are used not able to understand what their manager says.

Btw, if Cavani joins us his mum should get a job at the MuEN as she actually brings news. If he doesn't end up at us or Real, she could always apply for a job at the Daily Fail.

Funny how DF reported Cavani was going to Chelsea for sure, now he isn't and it's a race between us and Real. be sure wherever he ends up they'll claim "as first reported by Sprotsmail".

Napoli have to be a bit careful here dont they. I reckon Cavani has made his mind up about leaving now and to end up staying a t Napoli could be an anti climax for him - he may be happy enough to stay I suppose.

But both us and chelsea could end up going elsewhere soon.

Reading between the lines, it appears we are putting efforts into selling our club to the player and agent; whereas Chelsea are trying to convince ADL to accept their offer.
