Those back up players are not leaders....It shown when kompany was injured last season....boyatta and the likes are not good enough by a long way if we are interested in going a long way in champs league...

A top class experienced centre half is a must...hence bidding in my opinion a lot of money for pepe...a player we need.

Boyata has had two very unsuccessful loan spells, I wouldn't want him thrown back into the deep end any time soon.

Also, the fact you have named two midfielders and two right backs and only one experienced CB as backups to that position should surely raise alarm bells?

Demichelis doesn't need explaining. Willian to give us more pace and width and someone good at playing on the left. It would be nice to bring in a destroyer in midfield and Luiz Gustavo would have been perfect, not sure who to go for now but for me it would be good to bring one in because behind Fernandinho, Yaya, Rodwell or cover isn't that great.

Doing his own scouting of Stoke?
Liverpool as well, taking notes of everything and anything I would imagine.
 
One with pace and strength will do nicely.

I think Lescott is past it now but I am happy for him to be in the squad this year if that's his wish and until we improve on him we need him.

Predominantly right but still very useful with his left and he can play anywhere up front.

He definitely isn't a centre back though.......! so my bad and back on topic.

Probably, although I wonder how useful it is to watch Stoke playing away, when they're playing us at their ground. They'll play completely differently against us.

That much I knew. ;-)

I asked because unless he would operate generally, and comfortably, on the left I don't think he would be worth the money Liverpool would demand.

Back on topic, would it be crazy if we put in a bid for Diame and have him play as CB for awhile. We could then sell Barry and Garcia (although I think he would come good) and have plenty of high quality cover for DM.

I know, crazy.

I would think we'll see some furious negotiating in the next three or four days. We can't play with Joleon and Garcia, that's asking for it.

I'd much rather we used Rodwell, Richards or even Boyata ahead of Garcia in the system we seem to be playing

Pellegrini said tonight in his interview after match that nastastic should be alright,when quizzed on kompany's injury,sounded like he could be alright for cardiff sunday....

Perfectly put. We may get bent over now but it's either that or risk pissing the title up the wall. To spend everything we have on attacking talent and neglect a threadbare defence would be obscenely stupid.
