Might be shite might not be shite time will tell i guess

That'll be Sky going with the obvious, and desperate for him not to come to us.

To be honest i hope you right twitter is fulll of shit and i tend to ignore most of it. I seldom really get too involved in the transfer thing but if he was to come it would be a fantastic transfer and rank alongside the Aguero signing

Re: Cesc Fabregas

I know it's the wrong thread but selling Milner for 10m is low even with 1 year left. At that price hold on to him. He is a super player and well worth 15m with a year left. A bargain still for anyone.

Where would we play Fabregas? IMO his best position is central midfield, but Yaya, Fernandinho, Fernando and Fabregas (and Garcia... he'd have to go, but his agent said the player is 100% staying) would be ridiculous depth and hard to manage for Pellegrini if we continue to play a '2' (we could play a '3', yet then comes the problem of having 4 strikers for 1 position as we'd have to sacrifice one from the starting 11).

We could play Fabregas further forward, but where? He can't play on the flanks and even Silva, who is amazing behind a striker, is often drifting in from the right. So he could replace Milner as a homegrown player but not like-for-like in terms of where he plays. He plays up front a lot for Barcelona, no chance of that here with our wealth of strikers.

I'm just finding it hard to see unless Yaya does leave and there's still no concrete evidence that will happen.
It's a squad game. Bayern and Real Madrid have a crazy amount of top quality players that you can't squeeze into 11.

I know it's a squad game, but there are limits on how much top class talent you can have per position before it becomes a problem.

Like, those four would be OK if we switched to a midfield three all the time. But subsequently, that means sacrificing a foward and then we have Aguero, Negredo, Dzeko and Jovetic for one position. It's all about squad balance and I'm just seeing a potential imbalance where something would have to give and a major player (not Milner) sold to facilitate Fabregas' signing.

A bit of both really

I was told by someone who has contacts at Arsenal that Cesc looks City bound and with Tolmie saying over the weekend there had been developments, it seems to all be coming together, that's what i meant by momentum, add to that what the media are saying, it's looking positive at the moment and i wouldn't be surprised to hear something soon.

On another note i'm not surprised with the Kolarov rumours coming out, i know we've been putting the feelers out for a left back for a while.

You still think we're not in for Shaw and that that one's wrapped up to United mate ?

I haven't heard anything different on the Shaw front i'm afraid, I wish we were in for him to be honest, I've tipped him to play for England since he was 16 and would love him at City

Shame ... although I'm sure if they don't fancy him they have their eyes on someone else. It's one of those situations where you just know the conversation will have been had at the highest level because Shaw's English. I can see Abu Dhabi encouraging the idea of bringing him in also, so if we're not in then it's only because Txiki doesn't rate him or they think there's someone else out there who'd be better for us. Find it hard to believe that money would come into it.

Yeah but he goes for fuck all in 6 months - with the FFFP limitation then we have to sell no option.

Wouldn't surprise me if Arsenal have done.

90% of Twitter comments are linking him with City at the moment.

But "momentum" of a story doesn't mean much - it's just how these news stories develop on the Internet. Seems likely that something will happen before Spain leave for the World Cup though.

Hopefully not Man Utd. Their fans would be absolutely gutted if he ended up at City after they spent most of last Summer chasing him. That would be so funny.

Another present from FFFP, I.e. The fact that clubs know our net spend puts us at a great disadvantage in negotiating sales. Feckin cants.

Telegraph: Arsenal will not use their buy-back clause on Cesc Fabregas, opening the door for City to sign him - if they actually want him.

Didn't that Guillem Ballague or whatever his name is say Arsenal don't have a buyback clause on him?
