Signing Fabregas to give us another attacking option in midfield would more than likely mean we would have a squad which could compete for the Champions League trophy next season. He's homegrown, and has the right mentality to be a winner with us. We have a lot of Spanish speaking players so he'd fit right in and his English is excellent too.
If we can afford him with the sanctions we have to operate within then this is the signing we should make to give us an extra dimension in the attacking side of the team, he'd make up the difference between a good team and an exceptional side.
However, I can't see us being able to bring in Fernando, Sagna, a backup keeper, a decent central midfielder and a better left back if Kolarov leaves, unless maybe the club are thinking of selling one of our strikers and all stories regarding a striker leaving have been denied so far.
He would be excellent linking with either Nasri or Silva and if we could rotate these three players to keep them all fresh then we'd be stepping up to another level from what we've seen before. If Fabregas goes to Liverpool or Utd then he would definitely strengthen either one of them. The thing about Fabregas is he has a similar attitude to Milner and will keep working even if the team are losing badly. This is just the type of player we need and can improve what we already have. If we let him go to another Premier League side when we could sign him then this is almost as bad as the crazy signings we made two summers ago IMHO.
