Re: Cesc Fabregas

Maybe off topic but how did it go wrong for fabregas in Barca? Seems like a good move when he went back to Barca from arse. Xavi is getting too old surely needs a successor? Thiago has moved on. Fabregas seems like a good bet to become the main man in CM for the next five years

This is the bit I fail to understand too. Xavi, brilliant though he is, is 35 next January and can't continue forever. The word in Spain today is that Barca wouldn't mind too much if Xavi did one because he's got 2 years to run on a €13m a year deal and they need to trim their wage bill to rebuild their squad.

You would have thought that Cesc would be the perfect player to replace Xavi long term, after all that's why they fought to bring him 'home'. It's all a bit odd if you ask me. As for us, we have enough deadwood that we can rid ourselves of to make space for a genuine world-class, Premiers League proven operator. We need to make this happen.

Re: Cesc Fabregas

A lot depends what formation MP wants us to play in most games next season. I can't see fabregas playing in a 2 man CM. If we go 4231 or 433, he would be great in our side. Although we don't really have the players for 433.

Man city will be playing 4-4-2 in 90% of games

Re: Cesc Fabregas

Gone bloody quiet on this thread. Thought he was nailed on for Chelsea along with Mangala and Benatia. Have the press missed their unveiling at the Bridge. :-)

Ballague has just said no agreement with Chelsea. City and utd still in the race.
That's him off to Chelsea then, the story will probably break in 5 mins..

Re: Cesc Fabregas

all I'll say is that I don't think for a second that people like Ferran and Txiki wouldn't have known ages ago that Cesc was out the door if he was going to go, it would have been leaked in friendship circles for sure imo, so with that in mind I'm inclined to think our transfer business and UEFA punishment is with this in mind and thus if we don't sign him then to me it's because we don't want him.

Which would also seem a further indication that Yaya is going nowhere.

I think that is very clearly the case but I also think that we never really wanted him but it was a case of chancing our arm a bit with a 2 year loan deal with option to buy at the end of it.

Hope so i think we shud really go all out for cesc would be an upgrade on nasri and improve the teams goal threat.

He and Fernando would leave us 3m left for a centerback ......anyone decent at Bristol Rovers ?

Lol, a 2 year loan with an option to buy? Chancing our arm doesn't quite cover it I think! Would be like Barca offering 10 million for Silva.

Re: Cesc Fabregas

Fernando 12mil(cant imagine the 4mil of clauses being included this years ffp restriction cause they is no guarantee that we have to pay them), Cesc 30mil, Garay 15mil, Westwood free, Sagna free total spend 57 mil. Sell Sinclair, Richards, Guidetti and Rodwell bound to cover the 8 mil.

Each year of the loan is charged at say £10m? It means we book £10m for FFP this year and next. ;-)

it would only have to be 1 year wouldn't it? 1 year at £10m, pay all his wages and we buy him next summer for £23m.

Re: Cesc Fabregas

I'm not sure other teams will be bending over backwards to help us get through FFP, they are after all the ones who forced the rules in an attempt to stop us...
