I would be astonished if Barcelona accepted such an offer from us.

If we were willing to pay 40-50m for him thn they might consider but that isn't going to happen.

Each year of the loan is charged at say £10m? It means we book £10m for FFP this year and next. ;-)

Fabregas seems to be the player nobody really wants.

Arsenal, no buy back wanted
PSG, not remotely interested
Not a sniff from Spain, Italy or Germany
Chelsea are still thinking about it apparently.

Maybe the only offer will end up being the half-arsed City one?

And why is no one (apparently) interested at what seems a damn good price? Is everyone trying to bluff everybody else or is there something in his personal life that's not been made public?

I dont think we have.

And thats whats interesting as if any club has a relationship with the player and his agent its City.

Perhaps what he wants for his contract killed any thoughts of a deal?

Cleary he wants to leave and preferably come back to England

Perhaps the clubs interested in him are waiting for him to stir the pot himself with Barca so they can get him at a cut price

He is a quality player and would improve most teams, but perhaps he isn't really seen as a neccesity to anyone unless they can get a good deal out of Barca

At the end of the day, money talks. They may not like us and they may not want to help us, but if they need the money and we have the money, deals will be done. And FFP might actually help us as we can place a take it or leave it offer which might have been higher if the recipient hadn't been in favour of these restrictions!

I'm guessing no one is keen on paying the £40 million

If it carries on like that the only club I can see paying it are the rags

There will be a rush for him eventually. Unless Chelsea are going in with an offer so far above anyone elses, as soon as he's going once, going twice... Bam four more clubs at the table.

Barca a team we should be challenging in next seasons champions league don't want him, that worrys me. Why should we be taking somebody thats not wanted by our rivals in the champions league?

Barca don't get rid of their best players. Fab has not turned out like he was supposed to, city move away.
