Chairman's Interview

Other than the Super League question, I found that interview boring.

Nothing of note or interest ever really gets said in these end of season interviews with al Mubarak. They’re very repetitive n’all, it's the same shit every year. Lots of words and almost nothing of any substance.

I don’t want him to describe what’s happened this season, I’ve watched every minute of it myself and know what happened. I don’t want him to describe Pep as a coach, I’ve read books and seen documentaries on that and watched five years of it in action. I don’t want him to describe Kun’s career, I’ve watched it all. I don’t want him to describe Colin Bell, I’ll read one of Gary James’ books or ask my Dad about that…

I want him to tell us things we don’t get to hear or see anywhere else.

What are the short term and long term plans for seasoncards? and ticketing in general? What are the long term plans with the ticket points system? What are the plans for the stadium and surrounding area? What are the plans, how do they tie in with City, and how much are City involved, in the new arena being built next door? What are the plans for the club in the coming years and long term? Are there any plans to drive the club on Green issues, making the club more carbon neutral? What are the implications on our £126m loss in revenue? What are the short and long term plans to change this? What are we going to do about UEFA’s new plans for the Champions League?

Enough team tactics and player selection/s, back on track.

I think KAM's shifty eyes and awkward body language in part 2 was noticeable, more so than at any point in the 12 years of his tenure as chairman, especially after Chris Bailey asked the long awaited question on the ESL he must have been dreading.

"I think that what it missed was an important aspect of what the fans thought about it"

Too right Khaldoon, it's not as though we had any say in the matter or were forewarned!

I noticed the word fans was banded about a lot in part 2 so after watching it first time i played it again. I counted 13 times he used the word 'fans', may have been more.
However, what i also noticed was he never used the word 'supporter' once!

The thing is there's a big difference between an average fan and average supporter, and being a fan is definitely NOT the same as being a supporter.

A fan can be someone who casually watches games in America, also in places like Azerbaijan Australia and outer Mongolia, and and often is, especially since CFG and worldwide TV exposure.

On a personal level I found it quite insulting (myself being a match going supporter) that the word supporter wasn't mentioned once. I have been a SC holder in all the time ADUG first rolled up into town in 2008 and have been watching City's fortunes well before we were fortunate!

I'm not being funny but i don't really give a fuck what some newbie fan thinks in some far flung corner of the world. A newbie fan that has contributed absolutely zero in money nevermind blood sweat or tears. Plus most glory hunting JCL's will drop us like a hot meat n' tater pie if we ever fell from grace!

I really appreciate what our owners have done for us but i really hope that free flight tickets and cheaper Everton home tickets weren't just to curry favour with us for joining the hated ESL.

I've mellowed quite a lot sice the collapse of the proposed ESL and I'm ambivalent on the apology to us 'fans', time will tell if it was said with any contrition and sincerity. Here's hoping it was and we never ever get taken for granted ever again!

Agree completely, I know it's sacrilegious to say this, but I turned it off half way thro part 1 as I was bored....I'm going to go and watch part 2 now though

I wouldn’t go that far, but he is such a seasoned interviewee, it’s almost impossible to expect him to make news the day after the CL Final loss.

Fair comment, but people look for words that create interest, and his comments created some interest in the transfer market.

On this one, I have to say it’s almost required to ask him, and hear the CEO speak, about historic events.

I want him to tell us things we don’t get to hear or see anywhere else.
That’s a big ask, but there’s usually a nugget in there.

Hmmm…

I’d like answers to many of these questions, too, but do you think this 45 min “Season Recap” is the venue?

I’d agree wholeheartedly that the communication out of the club is relatively poor…but Khaldoon accepted that in the interview, agreeing to improve Comm.

Nevertheless, an interesting contrarian take on the interview to this point, with many points to ponder.

It would be very good to have a “State of the Club” type interview/speech from Khaldoon at some point, but the day after the CL Final is probably not the time or place.

Thanks for sharing your perspectives.
