Champions League Squad - Jovetic Out (Updated Page 36)

Re: Champions League Squad

I think providing everyone is fit for the rest of the campaign, it is probably likely to be Jovetic

I still think Kolarov can offer a threat going forward if we need a goal, and with Bony, Dzeko and Sergio as goal threats his crossing could be vital

Sagna proved against Chelsea that he is worthy of a place IMO

We are only guaranteed two more games in the CL, and providing we have a full squad to choose from I don't think we will miss what Jovetic offers

It really should be Kolarov.

Mangala, Zabba and Sagna can all play the left back role with little trouble.

Silva, Jovetic, Milner, Nasri, all who can play the wide left of midfield.
Kolarov would not be happy if he was left out, in fact he wouldn't be happy if Jojo or Edin took the chop.
We don't want an unhappy Kolarov, he can be very difficult. We can't lose any frogs either because of Paddy or Argies because of Zabba.
Vinny will have to take one for the team I think.

Kolarov is out in the summer and his price will be less impacted than leaving Jovetic out of the squad, who is also being sold.

Kolarov needs a decent run of games to show his best, something he's not going to get thanks to the superb form of Clichy.

Re: Champions League Squad

I think it should be Kolarov too. Clichy has been the better player this season and we only have two guaranteed games. If we are struggling with injuries at the back we do have cover and a level of versatility there. We've shown defensively we are actually quite capable of doing a job regardless of injuries if we apply ourselves (as we will against Barcelona). Roma and Chelsea showed that with Fernando and Fernandinho screening the defence we look okay.

It's further forward we want to ask Barcelona questions. We might need to chase the game and though Kolarov is seen as adding a bit of width I think our squad is too good this season to use a left back in a more forward thinking role. In terms of midfield/attacking midfield players we would have Silva, Nasri, Milner, Navas, Yaya, Jovetic, Lampard who can provide a variety of different attributes. Then Dzeko, Bony and Aguero as central strikers. That's a great squad and it is better that Barcelona's overall in my opinion. I imagine we'll play Fernando and Fernandinho and then pick 4 from that lot at home. See what happens and if it's close going into the final 15minutes in Barcelona we will have plenty of options to attack/defend as required.
