Yea that's the way I see it. Good chance our group will be just as hard or harder next season.

sweeps feet - I think we would have been in pot 3 had we finished second, yes. There's a good chance we'll finish second this year too with us and chelsea going for the title, so we need to do well to make sure we get into pot 2.

If the champs league winners win their league, then do the second place team in their league go into pot 1 or do the 8th placed co efficient country champions go into top 1?

Re: ESPN FC on Twitter: "BREAKING: UEFA confirm #ChampionsLe

Does this mean that past seasons no longer matter? So champions are in pot 1. What if we finish second or third, does this mean we'd go into pot 2 or 3 respectively?

no, coefficient comes into play if we don't win title.

Id guess the rest of the ranking goes off your coefficient

They've got it fixed for Chelski winning the title then....

I assume you're joking, my guess would be that UEFA do indeed make every big decision that effects teams across Europe depending on whether or not City are going to win the league.

AC Milan director Umberto Gandini believes Champions League wildcards should be introduced to ensure some of Europe's biggest clubs do not miss out.

Currently, the Premier League top three qualify automatically, with the side in fourth entering the play-off round.

In Italy, the top two go straight into the Champions League, with third going into the play-offs.

"I think we have to look at ways of improving the Champions League," Gandini told BBC World Service.

"I would like to see opportunities for wildcards or different routes for clubs who have the ability, the prestige or the size to compete in the Champions league."

This is going to need its own thread or it will take over this one (which its only slightly related to).

It's how the CHAMPION'S League should be.

The fact that 4th place Arsenal were seeded ahead of us, the Champions twice in the last 3 seasons, was ridiculous.
Not really. The competition was seeded on the collection of points you've achieved in that very competition, not some other competition.
It's not the CHAMPIONS League is it? It hasn't been a competition for just champions for a long time. There are more non champions playing in it than champions. There a number of leagues' champions who don't even get to play in the competition at all. How's that for your "Champions" League? Also half of the competition isn't even in a league format. So it shouldn't be called the Champions League at all. People might have understood the seeding system a long time ago had the name changed a while back.

Totally agree. Been expecting something like this for awhile now. I'm sure the rags think its a great idea. don't be surprised if there are 4 wildcards a year ensuring the cartel never miss out. Could'nt teams that just miss out in europes leagues take this to court? I think football is heading for some big fallout in the coming years as the old dinosaur clubs seem to think they have a devine right to the money.
