Chelsea-Liverpool, United-Leeds, Brighton-Palace all off, rest of the games on (pg 128)

It’s been postponed not cancelled. So they will get the income on the day when the game is rescheduled.
Come on man.

A late Summer Saturday tea time game does not compare to some shitty midweek in winter when most rack up last minute and loads stay at home.

Barely a domestic ball gonna be kicked before Christmas now, stop start, stop start, fuckin madness.

Who's seen the massive reduction to S/T prices across all PL Clubs for this massively inconvenienve season, me neither!

Not to mention the Crammed in CL schedule.

Taking the piss out of fans.

I understand this perspective but severe weather cancellation and this are not the same.

One is a reasonable measure to protect the public’s safety and is accepted as necessary but nearly all involved.

The other is an arbitrary measure that protects no one from anything, except perhaps the PL/FA from having to finally confront the behaviour of Liverpool supporters at Anfield.
+1

The cricket season is nearing its end and is difficult to rearrange games due to weather issues in September, can’t speak for racing but I guess the horses are prepared for races weeks in advance so that’s an issue. I don’t think comparing what each sport chooses to do is the correct way to look at it. Also, the football authorities did canvas opinion from the clubs and went with the majority view, I understand. Seems fair to me.
This is nonsensical though.

India buggered off home last summer with Covid, setting a precedent.

England could have postponed the test and played it again next summer.

Agreed - I do think the FA and PL have completely misread the situation yet again. The monarchy and Gov stated that games could go ahead - indeed the scenes at West Ham were very moving and I suspect if they had thought about it as adults and allowed games to continue it would have been a much better tribute seeing an outpouring of respect and condolences in packed grounds up and down our nation.

This is not an argument about if you support the monarchy or if you prefer to be a republican it's solely about a group of old duffers, who constantly make stupid decisions in some vain attempt to be relevant. Our national game is the envy of the world yet it is overseen by a group of out of touch muppets.

We know Liverpool fans would be disrespectful, yet still enjoy another possible day off work but they are a breed apart and if we all had our way the entire City would be cut off and pushed into the Irish Sea.

Personally I am sad that our Queen has passed but for the love of God to cancel games, games where most (Liverpool shite apart) could show respect is beyond stupidity. Don't get me started on cancelling grass roots stuff - The Queen herself would have wanted to see youngsters running around in the fresh air rather than stuck in front of glass screens, wide eyed and trance like.

So in summary do F*** O** the governing bodies that run our most cherished game, this was a bad call but one of many and there is no way anyone can tell me differently.
the mass hysteria following Diana's death will not be repeated. for many reasons
own goal by the die hard royalists i m o
