I heard you the first time. So in your eyes Manuel has picked the team and the formation for every match this season, but its the players fault that we're playing shit and have been doing for most of the season?

No the manager does take some of the blame. But to put it solely down to him is mad. As I've said twice and you still seem to go on the players are still playing. Let's face it you weren't moaning 2 years ago about his formations and tactics when it won us the league and we only lost at home a few times in the season (in all competitions)

What a bizarre post.

No one was slagging Yaya when he was dominating games and showing that he was the best all round midfielder in the world.

No one was slagging Mancini when he won the league.

No one was slagging Dzeko when he was scoring regularly.

The fact is that when you are successful you are not going to be slagged off and Pellegrini got exactly the same treatment.

Yet when you have been in a downward trend for the past two seasons, despite spending huge sums on Mangala, KDB and Sterling etc then questions will rightly be asked.

In two seasons we have had two good runs of form. One at the back end of last season when we were well out of the title race and the first 5 games of this season. Apart from that we have ranged from bang average to totally inept bar the odd big win. For all this talk of us playing attractive and attacking game I'm yet to see it in the past 18 months.

We haven't beaten a top 6 side this season. In fact, I think we have only beaten 2 top 10 teams this season. We have also been beaten twice by the only top side in Europe we have faced.

People can keep their head in the sand and make excuses for Pellegrini but he is clearly holding us back. He's an average manager with a top side, even Hughes and Pardrew would have us at this level.

This reminded me that there is an interesting site that analysis tactics that is well worth a look. In this article, the writer touches on why what was working so well with Negredo a couple of years ago didn't work as well later: http://theinsidechannel.com/a-guide-to-manuel-pellegrinis-tactics-at-manchester-city/

Aside from anything else, in the 2+ years Manuel has been with us, other coaches have had the time to look at how he sets up teams and figure out how to beat us. The criticism that many of us have about Manuel is that this is precisely what he doesn't do - it feels like he rarely seems to take another teams strengths and weaknesses into consideration, so we see our slowest players deployed against the fastest teams, we see Yaya in a midfield two that common sense says will be overrun, etc.

There is a great summation elsewhere on the same site where the difference between a Pellegrini 4-4-2 and a Simeone 4-4-2 is discussed and the writer concludes: "Atletico’s 4-4-2 is designed to frustrate Barcelona. City’s is designed to run up the score against Hull City and Newcastle." http://theinsidechannel.com/atleticos-4-4-2-manchester-citys-4-4-2/

I thought the young lads what played did well jst a shame they scored so quick into 2nd half pellagrini as to get results this week to justify it now
