I don't suppose the whole Russian/Ukraine punch-up has helped, what with Abramovich moving on and the fallout from that. But after that extraordinary 'see-it-buy-it' approach from the Americans you would have thought they'd have finished in a loftier position than they have.

See it, buy it, but not a class striker among them. Classic non football man making hopeless decisions. Hands up if you thought Chelsea didnt need a striker. Oh, there’s a guy at the back with his hand up…….oh he’s a tarquin.

All these new players have got the habit of losing games if they start poorly next season it could be another season of mediocracy for them..

chelsea have got a lot of very good players, its hard to keep 22 players happy never mind 30 odd, they need to trim that squad down, make sure the squad knows poch is the final word and let him work, there is a lot of deadwood at that club, and not meaning bad players, very good players but far too many, get rid of ten,use some of the money to get 2 forwards in, dont know how they sit with FFP though.

next season i can see a poor start, but as the season goes on we will see a leaner, hungrier chelsea, because after what i saw v city last game that was(if i was a chelsea fan)disgraceful.

i havent watched a lot of chelsea this season, but for the quality of player that was a player power performance, something that seems to happen quite a bit at chelsea

They've got a lot of good players. (Albeit they need to get rid of the surplus.)
They could conceivably do some good business over summer if they buy a striker,
They are getting a decent manager in.
Most important of all - no European distraction whatever next season.

Given the necessary clear-out of surplus players and a proper plan as to playing style, I think they could do pretty well in the PL next year. Only one game a week for much of the season.

I could not believe how pathetic they were last Sunday, we had a 2nd string team strolling about in the sunshine and they lost with hardly a whimper.

Anybody hoping for an away win tonight at the swamp needs to give their head a good wobble.

Big article in the Times today. Apparently Boehly hates the limelight! Has now appointed pros to do the football work. Stable doors etc.

Lampard at Chelsea

10 games
8 losses
1 draw
1 win

I'd hang my head in shame if I was him, and probably find another career path

Don't get me wrong, the squad probably has its issues internally, but there's enough in that squad to get results

Some of those Chelsea players should hang their heads in shame - yes you Havertz in particular! When Gallagher is one of your better players then you’re in trouble. At least he put in some effort. Enzo Fernandez and Felix wasted there.

I'm sure he had gone somdthing like 10 games without win prior to getting sacked at Everton.
Even a team with no manager at all could just turn up for matches and possibly win one out of 20 games

The players have let him down but those same players let Potter down - I can't imagine Lampard needed the money offered unless it was a mental amount all he seems to have done is to reaffirm he is a good fit for Rochdale or Burton Albion.

Lampard is a public school boy, he'll think he's doing a helluva job.
