Sorry fella, i'm not having a go at you here - and not denying Maresca is doing a great job... I'm just saying that they spent a ridiculous amount of money and stockpiled a ridiculous amount of players in a couple of windows... if we had done that the media would still be banging on about it now, but nothing is being said!
I get where you’re coming from, but an inexperienced manager walking into a job of managing 45 players at a bigger club so well is pretty incredible.

Such huge investment should eventually lead to success, but it’s by no means a guarantee. Just look at the rabble across the road from us.

I guess Chelsea might get more stick when their FFP issues are looked at. It seems very quiet on those, even though they seem to have admitted them on behalf of the previous owners.

The media ARE bringing it up. I have yet to see any praise for Chelsea anywhere from media or other fans that doesn't come with the caveat of the money spent.

What's praise worthy for Maresca is, these players that Chelsea spent a ridiculous amount of money were widely ridiculed and mocked as flops, poor players etc. It has been interesting to watch the narrative change from 'Chelsea have spent all this money on poor, unproven players' when we were 12th last season to 'look at all the money Chelsea have spent on all this young talent, of course they were going to come good'.

That’s typical of the sports media in this country.

They’ll never admit they were wrong

They won’t rip up his contract. If he is found to have used ‘banned substances’ then he’ll be banned for a few games, given rehab then back in the team before the end of the season.
Back in the team? He's barely featured so I'm not sure they'll notice that he's banned.

One of the media outlets made me laugh earlier this week claiming that after his early struggles with Chelsea with sod all goals or assists he's now hit form with 3 goals and 3 assists in europe this season.

3 goals and 3 assists against the mighty KAA Gent, Panathinaikos FC, FC Noah & FC Heidenheim in the Europa Conference league. None in the PL of course.

Mudryk managed 7 goals and 2 assists last season, all but one came against PL teams. Any media outlet that talks as if Mudryk was an utter disaster last season probably do not watch Chelsea. Not worth his price of course, and not enough for the level we need him to be, but he wasn’t a useless player at all.

It’s also true that he was getting into a rhythm and building confidence against poor opposition in the conference league. Which is exactly what he needed imo.

Completely collapsed the minute people started putting in a title race lol. Very sloppy last couple of weeks.

Sure this will go down well:

Chelsea have some very clever guys running that club!

Problem with us early in our take over when ffp came in in Europe then premier was we thought they would play fair! We took then for being honest now we in this on going for years assault on our club!

Chelsea with American owners know not to take rules for what they are! Looked at them looked and found loop holes! Sell a couple of hotels and a Woman's team! Admit that they found out about the previous owners full in cheating and now they going to come out smelling of roses!

Fair play Chelsea owners I say!

Mate's a Chelsea fan and was in the posh bit vs Bournemouth. Here's the dinner menu.

Pretentious, moi?

Yeah

They bought so many players that at some point, there was always gonna be a manager that managed to get the right formula and get a tune out of them so that they're less shite than they've been for a couple of years.

and even then, they're not that good.

Chelsea looked good last night.no idea where they will finish up tbh.
Reece James again looking the brilliant No.2 he is..as I've said before, the best right back in the world. When fit.
Tony Book would , I believe, be impressed by Reece James. One fine quality fullback to another...
Was impressed again by their left winger, very good player excellent close control, with a mindset to do damage. And was that another City youth graduate at centre back, dominating the wolves strikers all day long.Palmer just looked classy and cool in everything he did,so silky,a fantastic player to watch.

I actually felt it was a rather mediocre performance. It was great to see James back in the swing of things and he looked good, albeit against poor unmotivated opposition. I don’t care about the pregnancy though, we just needed to win the game. We just needed to get back to winning ways. I was hoping we’d go to the Etihad in better form, but I guess a timely confidence booster will have to do.

Interesting to hear fans from other clubs assess their team's performances.
Thanks for being candid and honest.
I feel Chelsea (and perhaps also Spurs) are the most unpredictable team in the League.
Perhaps that's because you seem to have an unsettled team, or the manager has yet to know his best team ?
Saw the second half of last night's game and thought Wolves could have scored at about 85 minutes.
Would have been interesting to see how Chelsea would have cooked with a 3-2 scoreline ?

Yeah I'm not saying it was a complete all round great performance, I was impressed though with passages of your attacking play ,it looked so smooth.lots of players looked confident on the ball, not everything came off but it was a win to to stop the rot.

I don't agree with the above poster who says Chelsea are as unpredictable as spurs..one team is top 4 ,the other languishing a lot further down the table....Chelsea are a handful, have been all season and will continue to be, they took 2 pts off the champions last season when they were really unpredictable ,albeit with the worst injury record in the premier league ,esp serious, long term injuries.

For the greater part of this season their play has been far more cohesive, from what I've seen, and they are am attractive team to watch.
I wouldn't watch more than 5 mins of any spurs game, and judging by their league posistion ...I've not missed much.
I've got very little time for any spurs player , team,or manager of the last 2 decades, and last season's match where they kicked lumps out of our flair players did nothing to endear them to me.
Fuck spurs ..basically.

Will be interested to see this guy when he joins Chelsea next season. Looks like something special...
