Good. I want the spotlight on these owners. I want them under scrutiny. Either run the football club properly without all the loophole exploiting, financial engineering game of cat and mouse with the PSR/FFP rules or get the fuck out of my club.

There is a not insignificant chance that Strasbourg finish higher in Ligue 1 than Chelsea in the PL, in which case only one of us can enter the CL as we're owned by the same owners and the nod usually goes to the team that finished higher in the table. We're 4th at the moment, barely holding on and a decent chance we could finish 5th or even 6th. Strasbourg are currently 6th but only 4 points separate them and Monaco in 2nd. So something to keep an eye on.
How about not having these rules in the first place. It was a invention to stop us nothing more nothing less.

I don't mind rules, as long as we all play by them. If they don't like the rules, do what City did and take the league to court. What I don't like is agreeing to the rules and then trying to find every loophole in the book to exploit.

Every company on earth games its regulation. You are asking for the moon.

UEFA have initially refused to accept the income from the sale of the womens team which means they're going to be in breach of the limits by a substantial amount as it stands and thus likely to face a ban.

If that happens im not sure what protocol is, does that 4/5th cl spot simply become the 6th if chelsea finish within them or does it just ban chelsea from entering and the vacated spot goes to the next country down in the coefficent rankings? Might actually help us out in getting champions league football which would be incredibly ironic.

Why? It's how every major business operates in the world. In the case of Chelsea and football in general, it's on the league to make the rules as watertight as possible. If they are so vague that they can be easily circumvented in multiple ways then they're asking to be made a mockery of and fair play to any club that does so I say.

They sold their women's team to themselves for £200m!! . Haha where is the fair valuation in that. What EBITDA multiplier did they use, 1000 ?

What about related parties?

That is hilarious, talk about sticking two fingers up at the PL and their PSRules.

And we get hauled over the coals for a
£1m odd payment to a manager from 10 plus years ago.

The whole thing is a joke.
Ahhh, but you see, Chelsea is only doing this because of us. We ruined football a long time ago. They had no choice really. It's our fault. We financially doped. They're just trying to keep up.

Yeah but as a fan, it is just exhausting.

It's not like we're gaining much of an advantage by gaming the system. We finished 12th in Clearlake's first year, 6th in their 2nd year, and we look like we might finish 6th or 7th in their 3rd year. That is despite them spending over a billion on transfers, vastly, vastly outspending the rest of the league, and that is also despite them exploiting every loophole in the rulebook.

And one other thing, the reason they're so relentlessly finding every loophole in the books is because they've recklessly overspent and we do not have CL football, nor the revenues, to absorb that kind of spending, so we're heavily reliant on financial engineering shenanigans to avoid breaching the rules. That is not a good place to be.

Even the NHS gamed Blair’s rules.
No waiting more than x minutes in A&E….wait outside then.
Patients must be given a GP appointment within x time of asking……shut the phones down at 11am then.
That this happened came as a great surprise to Blair who had trouble understanding it.

at what point will their best players try to move to clubs offering CL football? I know they are in 7-8 year long contract but cannot believe if Arsenal could hold onto Saka if they had not been in CL last season, this season and next season. so can Chelsea hold onto Palmer etc?

have a feeling their lower basic pay contracts include high premium bonuses for CL progress which they couldnt activate last season or this season and by the look of it neither next season. they miss out on playing in CL which is normally quite high priority for players and cold hard cash too.

when Newcastle is about to play in CL 2x in a 3 year period and maybe even Forest players soon, its hard to explain to Chelsea players how they cannot step onto the pitch in a CL game.

Imagine what it's like after 10 years with the media constantly trying to denigrate our achievements at every available opportunity particularly club-affiliated mouthpieces like Neville and Carragher.

In the end, you have to remember it's the rules that are wrong, not the clubs.

You actually could if you wanted to, but you won't do it because you don't need to resort to stupid morally dubious financial engineering like that to comply with the PSR rules. Technically this isn't against the rules. It should be but it isn't.
It's also so short sighted. Chelsea have the best women's team in the league, one of the best in Europe, in a game that is only going to grow (and grow and grow and grow) over the next two decades. Seems mad to me you wouldn't want some of that potential growth in the business itself.

I like you.

I agree. It stinks of Barca's levers. At least they're looking like they could win both the title and CL this season. We're just wasting away outside the CL places whilst spending recklessly and stripping the club of it's assets. Yeah, wonderful first 3 years for this ownership.

You could always buy the hotels and women’s teams back for bargain prices.

Just seen that chelsea have agreed a shirt sponser till the end of the season...I smell more financial shenanigans going on...its a dubai company that's the sponsor?
Weird that they haven't had a shirt sponsor for a large chunk of the season. Even League 2 clubs have such sponsors. Asking too much from companies?

The rags kept that software co on their shirts even tho’ the sponsorship had actually ended and they had no replacement.
