Chelsea v City post match thread

If Balotelli had just had the 90minutes that Yaya Toure just had there would be a 100 page thread going on over the Winter. Yaya was unacceptably appalling tonight!

I also thought, despite not getting a definite penalty which could possibly have out us 2-0 up, we deserved to lose because we were very poor for much more of the game than we showed any kind of quality.

Hart 7
Zaba 6
Kompant 4
Lescott 5
Clichy 4
Barry 7
Yaya 3
Milner 6
Agüero 6
Silva 5
Balotelli 6

Thats what lost us the match tonight. Hoofing it.

For an intricate passing team I dont know why we started hoofing it.

It started from Vinny and spread throughout the team.

But its happened loads. Joe Hart and Given before him are forever hoofing it instead of rolling or passing it out and building from the back.

It must be a tactical thing but I have no idea how this benefits us but Joe's hoofing has happened in so many times that Bobby must have told him to do it....why?

On a plus note Balotelli has matured so much. Was proud of it tonight.

No first 25 Chelski played a high line and we passed around them - they then dropped deep and compacted the space and we could pass around them so we then started punting the ball - this has happened a few times this season

We have to take the bad with the good. Lescott is good enough so is clichy so is yaya and silva. Stop with the knee jerk shit, it was just a bad day at the office.

Hart-------------5

Zabaleta---------8
Kompany---------5.5
Lescott----------5
Clichy------------2

Barry-------------8.5
Yaya-------------1 - we would have been better with nine men. He should apologise to his team-mates, especially Barry.
Milner------------7
Silva-------------7

Aguero-----------7
Balotelli-----------6.5

Mancini----------3 - outclassed and out-thought. Is primarily responsible for our Champions league absence and, tonight, should take some of the blame for the inaction of his players and not changing it.

You cannot give Zabba an 8 for that. I agree with the rest.

2 decisions there by the ref over rulling the linesman who is only a yd away...both incorrect!

we have been unlucky here....penalty int he first half not given.

a lucky handball decision for the penalty...just how is lescott suppose to get his body and arms out of the way...it is against basic bio mechnanics to try and run around and stretch for footballs with you arms firmly planted by your side....he is even turning away from the ball as its shot

the positive here is that we have absolutely nothing to fear from chelsea in the future....we are at least equal to them and 11vs 11 we are better....

clichy again was unlucky to be sent off

and i really do feel sorry for balotelli...he only has to go near the ball and he gets a decision against him....he had possession of the ball a few mins ago and the chelsea player tripped over his leg and he got a foul given against him!!!!

We were unlucky with the penalty that was not given but I thought the one they got was a penalty ( I am not sure why Lescott is turning away from the shot and not chrging the player face on. He he fucking scared or something?)

Clichy was a booking and therefore a sending off. To be honest I thought Kompany was lucky not to go to as was Meireles.

Overall we played well first 25 and shite for the remainder although I thought we held them quite well for 20 mins after the sending off. Hart had very little to do.

Aguero really should have scored to make it 2-0

I wanted to fookin punch Aguero tonight - knew straight away he´d cost us with those misses - I am so pissed off losing to that garbage and that trumped up fookin dwarf

penalty decisions like the one against lescott are usually given so i understand your point but what im saying is that the ball wasnt on target, its hit him from 2 yds away (so he has no chance to get him out of the way and its impossible to move around with your hands by your side.....to me in any gmae the refs need to take the sensible approach and not give those decisions.......and yet they miss blatant ones like the one in the stoke vs spurs game

the ref was too card happy and if you are looking for consistnacy then it wasnt there tonight...mierelles lunged in several time s and therefore shold have gone...yes clichey fouled for the second yellow but it was just a mistimed challenge that no way he could pull out of and there was minimal contact and its cause both players are in full flight that it has happened....mierreles on he other hand ...esp the one on zabba was a very bad challenge and could have resulted in a nasty injury...it is those tackles thats yellow should be given for........not ones where there is a simple coming together of two players

i don't get it. i remember watching barcelona 2 yeas back and i think it was puyol that came under a bit of pressure and just hoofed it, and guardiola immediately came off the bench and started screaming at him. wish mancini would do the same, to stop that nonsense, it makes no sense for a team as good as ours, to go stoke-style.

Normally it's Lescott responsible for that, but I thought Vinnie was the main culprit tonight. Gave possession away far too cheaply at times.
Correct, how anyone can say Lescott was the one responsible for giving away posession is beyond me. Kompany hoofed it countless times tonight.

We were crap, in all honesty, and Chelsea showed their experience.
We lacked form, leadership, common sense. We just completely lost it tonight. But it's no harm that we got a loss out of the way, against a top 4 side.

It's a loss. One loss. The one thing we can't do now is let it unravel us. Don't let the doubts get in, second thoughts, over thinking.

Ya there's a bit more pressure on us now because the gap is 2 points, and it's this time, after Christmas is when the pretenders fall short. Many times over the years, what looked like legitimate title challenges, fell away after Christmas. We're going into unchartered territory, where we, hopefully, will still be top of the table. And it will take a lot of mental strength to keep up going, physically and mentally.
We might have beaten (humiliated) the rags, but it's only 3 points, which will mean nothing if they win the title in the end, just another morale victory.

The Premiership is a marathon, not a sprint. Lets hope we have the longevity for it. They've done it all before, and they'll know every trick, every play, and they will try to disrupte us, try to get under our skin. But the important thing is to remember that we control our own destiny. Not them.
If we stay calm, take it nice and slow, and don't overreact to things like this, then we'll be fine.
The last thing we need is to panic and all of a sudden a back to back loss or a draw when we should have won.
Do not let the doubts get in, because that is the only thing that will stop us. We are technically good enough to win it, it's the mental side of it that I worry about.

Well done Chelsea, playing nearly an entire second half at home against ten men and winning by way of a penalty. Songs shall surely be sung of such a glorious victory.
