If we were beating Barca 2 0 at home I can guarantee that the place would be rocking.

Now if the atmosphere was the same against St Mirren at home then you would have a point but any ground in the world would be like that if you were beating the best team in the world

Celtic's "ultras" obviously had nothing to do with the atmosphere against Barca but it makes sense for "the Citizens" to want to credit them for it. They have a capo and a drum, two things that it seems most people don't want but "the Citizens" seem intent on having.

how can you not credit the green brigade with a lot of the atmosphere, they spent weeks working on the full stadium tifo, which they made. Most of the songs started from them with a capo and a drum.

Most the lads in the video look the same age as the BA, dont see the problem wioth hanging around with people who are younger than you ???

no not on that level, but what do you expect ??. Just saying a lot of the atmosphere starts with the green brigade they start most the songs off and create that atmosphere then other people join in and follow.

It would have been exactly the same had there never been a "Green Brigade". If we had beaten Barca on Tuesday the atmosphere would have equally as impressive.

The citizens want a more European fan style, the blue alliance want the English spontineaty, what's wrong with being sort of Belgian and compromising?? The English spontineaty and the European passion. Don't want a drum but will bang on a something to keep the chant going longer. Want a capo but don't want to be lead. Want to be colourful and impressive but don't want to dress up as a plastic.

We don't want a drum but we need a drum. We dont want a capo but we need a capo. There needs something to be done but English fans are always stubborn, and too scared of looking foolish, if we let this be a lower league phenomenon, then it will always be looked down upon by the likes of us.

There's only so much the blue alliance can do before they end up looking like a firm picking up shithouse tag alongs who are only after violence that gives everyone else a bad name. I know blue alliance aren't at all, but to an untrained Eye they will, and the club will think the same and they're way too sensitive about that as it is.

So what is needed is a compromise, the cheese the club likes and thinks is acceptable, but with an ulterior motive of uniting the fans to being vocal. At the end of the day, we are supporting our own players so why should we give a fuck about what anyone else thinks. I'm more embarrassed by silence than I am by something others may find cringeworthy.

Whatever though, this will probably be looked over by people blinded by nostalgia and that the English way is the best way. We used to be looked up to by everyone as the way to support our team, but not we are considered the worst. Something must be done before watching football is put in the same category as going to the theatre. People may go to the match to watch city, but many others go to support city.
Good post.

Watched Celtic against Barca on Wednesday and the atmosphere was fantastic, didnt notice any ultras or any one person leading it was just all the fans getting together and singing as one supporting their team.

Not a fan of Celtic but admired the way they got behind the team.

Problem at City is the ground waits for either the singing section or Southe Stand to start a chant/song or for something to happen on the pitch.

The crowd can change what happens on the pitch by intimidating the other team and rousing our players.

If we were beating Barca 2 0 at home I can guarantee that the place would be rocking.

Now if the atmosphere was the same against St Mirren at home then you would have a point but any ground in the world would be like that if you were beating the best team in the world

Conversely, ive seen our fans go into themselves when we are leading in a big game when the nerves seem to take over.

That is why you need an ultras type group to pick the atmosphere back up.

I was keen on joining the Citizens, but unfortunately they do look to be being led by younger lads, not criticising them at all, they deserve nothing but praise for getting off their backsides and doing something, but, i do think the younger profile of the group will put off the slightly older fans keen on taking part.

The thing is is you see us Citizens still want the spontaneous of the English atmosphere but want to keep the atmosphere going when it dies down to nothingness.

I have been chatting to the other lads and we are only wanting to use the capo when we need to use one and same with the drum, sort off half and half with English atmosphere and European atmosphere. If the English type atmosphere is picking up and doing well they we will sing that way but if everyone stops singing then we want a way to get everyone going again and we plan to TRY and use a capo and drum. We don't intend to use a drum all game though as was seen with the ajax fans, just for a few songs.

We want a mix, also we can't really be judged just yet as we are trying things and we have only been to one game together and our plan will take many years.

If that makes any sense.
