City charged by the FA following the Villa match (22nd May 2022)

Manchester City FC has been charged with a breach of FA Rule E20 following its Premier League fixture against Aston Villa FC on Sunday 22 May 2022. It is alleged that after the final whistle of this fixture Manchester City FC failed to ensure that its spectators - and all persons purporting to be its supporters or followers-conducted themselves in an orderly fashion and refrained from using threatening and/or violent behaviour whilst encroaching onto the pitch. Manchester City FC has until Thursday 25 August 2022 to provide a response to this charge.

99.9% did not use threatening and/or violent behaviour. A couple of idiots barged into the keeper and shouted at him as they ran past. The goalposts broke when a few more idiots climbed onto them. By that time all players were off the pitch. Now encroaching onto the pitch yes, no argument with that one. Why has it taken three months to bring this charge? That's suspect to me. Also there is clear evidence we did everything we could to ensure that any of this didn't happen. Extra stewards, police and countless announcements not to go onto the pitch. The club in conjunction with the police posted photographs of 21 people they suspected of criminal behaviour. The FA are making a mountain out of a molehill.

Meanwhile at Old Trafford during covid restrictions and with prior warning a demonstration was going to take place United failed to protect and secure their ground. Furthermore stewards appeared to assist them in their criminal activity by opening gates and turnstiles. A police officer was slashed, criminal damage done and TV staff and pundits verbally abused and threatened. The game was called off. Any charges? Any fines or warnings to the club? None that I know of. I know which group of supporters used threatening and violent behaviour and it wasn't the ones on the pitch celebrating a title win.

Cits submissions may read as follows:

"What the fuck were we supposed to do, employ 25000 stewards with tasers and baseball bats and have the Police cavalry on stand by to gallop to the rescue fucking the pitch up completely. Please tell us what more we could have done? Violent behaviour towards who? Who was hurt apart from Gerards pride resulting in him gobbing off on Sky the soft twat?"

what a load of bollocks

FA, you stink

They won't be happy until they have squeezed every last drop of joy and fun out of the game and we are left with half and half scarf tourists taking pictures and videos all game. The bloke who used to be next to me in the south stand didn't come back after covid. I've had various tourists next to me and usually their mates dotted around close by who try and squeeze next to him since safe standing. On Saturday there was a mid twenties lad next to me. He never spoke, sang or engaged with the game, except to almost constantly video it. That's the future and while we are successful the club will be happy. Hit a rough patch and we will be in shit street.

Am told that United received no charges for the postponement as it was outside the ground?

Seems a bit of a side step. Yes it's outside the ground, but the actions surely affected a football game and potentially set a precedent for mard arses everywhere.

On the reverse, in our case efforts were made to identify and prosecute the fans individually, and action was taken against the club by the governing body.

As for us, guilty no question. We've all enjoyed a pitch invasion or two in our time, that time has gone. Too many unstable folk around in modern society to turn a blind eye anymore, and sooner or later one idiot will think to just buy a ticket to the game in order to take out some player, because the voices said so, because he said something on social media, because he lost or because his girlfriend told her mates once that she thinks he's fit.

Although the next media outlet that suggests their keeper was mortally wounded by a passing fan should be kicked out of our press conferences for a season.

But I think that change in approach from the authorities stinks, no wonder it leads to suggestions of bias and favouritism.

Have you watched the video? It doesn't show any assault. A couple of fans get close to him with raised arms as they run past and he ducks. It doesn't look like any contact. The fans were stupid but it seems obvious they were just taunting him and making gestures. That's obviously what the police though as well because no action is being taken about that incident. Just some fake news unfortunately from the BBC and Daily Mail.
Yep I've seen it! I agree it wasn't 'bad' I just understand why they are taking a zero tolerance policy towards incidents like that especially with what happened at Sheffield and Everton around that time. And I agree with it. Just can't happen on any level
