City Fans Leaving Early/Empty seats

If people leave early at a 12.30 kick off, there is definitely something wrong.
What ever about midweek or 5.30 games you can make excuses. Who where the people who needed to be somewhere else at 2.10 on a Saturday.
Is football getting in the way of something you'd rather be doing. It's like you have to go to say you were there. Let's face it, it's not the tourist running for the exit's, they are on holiday.
Why is the loyal city fan rushing out of the ground and not showing up because the majority of empty seats are season ticket holders. Just curious ??

I am in 315 in the cheap seats toward the back... if I leave at full time (I do most games) then there is a long wait to get out... whoever designed the new stand needs a slap as they could easily have added a second set of exits mid stand... instead you have thousands of people trying to get down half a dozen aisles... then you have a double door everybody has to funnel through... god help us if there is a real emergency as people will 100% get hurt... I have no doubt about it.

Nothing we can do about the exodus.. I left myself as mentioned... if I could get out easily at the final whistle I wouldn't go early
its a proper ball ache.
the ground is virtually clear before we even start moving down the aisle....
my mate who drives us there sits in the family stand with his lad and parks up near the gas works so i either have to leave early which really pisses me off or make him wait which really pisses him off

People leaving early at Liverpool & Arsenal yesterday but they have "istory" so they don,t get mentioned. Only city fans leave early, and don,t get me started about that lot at the "swamp".

Left 5 minutes early on Saturday.

Beat all the traffic.

I can see why people do it. It's very tempting. But I just couldn't do it on a regular basis.

Especially those that leave 10 or even 15 minutes before full time. Really, what is the point of coming to the match in the first place, especially when the game is still firmly in the balance?

It was a good job Otamendi scored with that 93rd minute header. If he'd headed it wide then Wayne Hennessy would have had to climb into the Family Stand (or Early Leavers Stand, as it is to be renamed for next season) and retrieve the ball from about 20 rows back himself.
Why not take a look at ss3 if you want to see what an empty stand looks like on 85 mins ?

You watch the replay of Otemendi goal, empty seats in SSL1 all over not only Family Stand as you & others keep saying.

I don't care about early leavers up to the individual for me like another poster it's the fuckers who arrive 10 mins late, get up 10 mins before HT & then arrive back 10 mins late all so they can stick another 6-7 pints down there knecks.

If we are going to slag off early leavers then tell the piss heads who miss more than the 10 minutes at the end.
Correct, this is far more irritating.I find the need in some to hammer this shit beer embarrassing !

Yes I remember when dzeko banged in the 6th at old Trafford, the ground was still full.

Well one stand was you red twats. Ha ha

There are early leavers at every club and the cameras make a point of showing them for some strange reason but there is no other top 6 club has as many on the scale we have.
Someone mentioned earlier it's like watching lemmings at times.

Yep, every club has early leavers but our ground seems to be the worst for it. I can understand if people have to be somewhere, but there's not a chance that everyone who bailed it early on Saturday had to. I also take on board the issues in SS3 - that needs sorting by the club, if not to stop people leaving early but on a safety basis. Astonishing that there are those kinds of issues at a top Premier League club in this day and age. Generally speaking though, I find it odd why so many leave so early, especially when we're turning in a performance like that. I didn't notice too many leaving early at Anfield yesterday but the atmosphere was fucking shocking though.

As for empty seats, well there were plenty at the Emirates yesterday even for a big game against United, and there were plenty when I was there the other week for our 2-2 draw. As for their game against Leicester a couple of weeks back, Christ I don't think even our place has ever been as bad as that for a league game. Arsenal don't seem to get quite the same criticism in the press for it though, although fans of other London clubs take the piss out of them. West Ham have been getting a lot of stick down there for empties this season as well.

Overall, I think there's a lot of apathy/malaise amongst fans across the whole league. Even amongst long-standing loyal fans. I put most of the blame on the ever-increasing gentrification of our game for that, and how we pull it back from here I don't know but I do think some of it is on the fans to play their part and we can't blame everything on the clubs/FA/Sky/Premier League because for too long we've allowed ourselves to be rolled over and shafted without offering much, if any, resistance and all the time the game has become more and more sanitised. I'm fucked if I'm chucking the towel in though and will continue to do whatever I can to try and help improve things from an atmosphere point of view.

I drove a couple of hundred miles to get there on Saturday. At 81 minutes with the game won, me and Mrs S legged it to the car. First time we have left early. Result - instead of 50 minutes to the M60, it took 13. Downside - we missed 2 goals. Did make the drive home 3 hours rather than 4 though. On balance I wouldn't do it again as it didn't feel right.

Maybe it is the introduction of the metro link that has made the problem worse.
Cannot remember it being as bad pre metro.
SS3 there was a lot of empty seats all game. That was the worst I have seen any stand for years attendance wise for a League game.

I wouldn't leave early as it's something I've never done.... probably because I want value for my season ticket lol, but in all honesty I think part of the problem is that the metro going back to Ashton is a fucking joke.
After every game it's the same issue with single unit trams and none on stand by ( although after rag game and palace game there were double units albeit a long wait for tram after palace game)
I find it strange that as soon as a couple of fans start to leave it's like a signal for loads to say it's fine to go now, worst part of them leaving is that they get part way down the steps and stop to watch attacks...ffs if you are going then hurry up and stop blocking everybody's view.

You can believe that's the number of tickets sold (including seasoncards) - it doesn't mean that number of people were in the ground.
It's not even the number of tickets sold. It's the number of tickets distributed. So the club could give away 5,000 tickets, most of which aren't used, yet all those free tickets would count as part the published attendance.

There's several seats where I am in 302 that available and not taken by SC holders. What I've noticed, particularly this season is the ever increasing tourists taking these seats. Thing is, many arrive and offer zero support to help enhance the atmosphere. Many are too busy taking pics to instantly post on FB Twitter and the like. Two next to me had no idea we'd scored at least one of our goals till the crowd erupted. They remained in their seats almost oblivious as to what was happening on the pitch.

I got there 10 mins before KO and missed Silva's goal as I also missed first 15 mins due to security checks ( but that's another topic).
Those two johhny come latelys missed the first 20 mins, spent most of the match(they were actually there) engrossed in their phones to then leave on 75 mins.

I really don't know why some 'fans' bother going tbh.

People have argued on here when a game has been tight like the derby and people have left early. We then have a game that's dead and won and they complain at people leaving then too. So basically regardless of the score you should be tied to your seat until the final whistle.
