City fans rushed by Spanish Police

Whilst its no consolation, that is what those Blues unsuspectingly walked into. Madrid is a tinderbox and i am very surprised GMP did not warn fans what is happening.

The behaviour of the Madrid police has nothing to do with current protests in that city. They behave like that with or without provocation.

So you are saying that type of thing happens everyday.

10 or 12 coppers or whoever can be arsed on the day, just wander about knocking fuck out of everything?

This is knocking the fuck out of everything

Whether we like it or not, what is happening in Madrid in a whole ball game away from a few thousand English football fans. However horrific it is.

No i am not condoning the Police in any way shape or form but Madrid is a tinderbox and everyone is frayed.

I live in Spain and just caught the end of the lunch time news here on channel 4 (Cuatro) where they were showing the clip. Unfortunately only caught the last five seconds and couldn't tell whether they were blaming the police or not. At least it has finally made the national news here and I'll watch out for the full news report tonight when I'm back from work.

We played in Madrid four years ago. It wasn't a 'tinderbox' back then but the behaviour of the Madrid police was exactly the same. Their nerves aren't frayed, that's just how they behave. They crack skulls with or without provocation. Somewhere on Youtube is footage of a woman protesting about her boyfriend being clobbered by them after a night out. She walks up to a group of police and one of them responds by cracking her round the skull with his baton and laying her spark out cold. It's not just football supporters who get that treatment.

That happens in Manchester, thats not out of the ordinary. We are coming from the same angle but you are not understanding what i am saying. What you saw and what the City fans saw is nothing. A fraction of what goes on.

Do you see this in England?

That was not the back drop of Spain when you visited.

Last night when Arturo Mas dissolved the catalan parliament for a referundum, Intereconomia was reporting that right wing Generals in the army would order troops into Catalunya if the referendum went ahead.

As i said i am not condoning battering innocent fans, but coppers failing in their duty concerning football fans is nothing new is it?

It doesn't happen in Manchester. That's just bollocks. You're implying that the behaviour of the Madrid police is somehow more violent when they're confronting mass protests. It isn't. They behave like that as a matter of course. I saw supporters being set upon by police in the streets. I saw supporters being attacked outside the ground whilst doing nothing more than queuing to get in. If you think that 'is nothing', then i beg to differ.

Beg to differ all you like. You are trying to provoke an argument that isn´t there. They could easily have stepped up the beatings, fortunately the Blues had enough sense to leave it be.

Good luck with trying to convince anyone there is no Police violence in Mcr.
