city fanzines....

Firstly does anyone know where Mike ended up. Used to stand with him and a few others in the Kippax, oh happy days. As for the accusations re Noel and his bullying having witnessed him 'in action' after a derby at OT I think it would be safe to say the phrase 'wet paper bag' spring to mind :-)
What I find laughable in all this is that people can remember the exact words that were spoken to them over fifteen years ago and where they were stood etc. Come on guys get a grip - make friends make friends never ever break friends. Mind you BTH does have a fair point about most of the people he has mentioned. Scrap scrap scrap........

Having just read a few editions of Electric Blue Noel seems a decent person giving mentions to ” Main stand view"....although I am interested in his review of Coventry Blue , James Nash'es fanzine "Wigout"...I take it that one didn't take off. Having looked through a few editions of "king of the kippax" and " The Charming Man" theirs a few sly digs at Noel. Maybe I've just got the wrong/right issues.

noel you ARE a bully, or at least always WERE

fancy hitting someone when they have their little lad on their shoulders

cowardly

nobody put me up to say anything, i am just aware of the incidents and want to set the record straight

blueprint was the 1st fanzine and was popular - think you were just jealous of that

I have to say that I knew Noel well back in the day, we used to drink in the Nelly in Didsbury and I can quite assure you that one thing he never was, was a bully. He could have quite a caustic tounge, but was generally very funny. I have no agenda with other fanzines, just weren't my cup of tea, wheras I always thought BTH was.

One thing I do know, BTH never kowtowed to the club unlike other fanzines and was always truly independant.

BTH----The only City zine to come from Manchester

The Perce

I thought it came from Ratcliffe..?

under the impression Noel was from Baguley, I stand corrected if untrue

I am sure Noel originally came from Wythenshawe/Baguley area. The top and bottom of all this is that Noel/BTH is a top bloke and a big blue and although there are obviously people on here who didn't see eye to eye with him decades ago I always thought of him as a sound bloke. That said everyone is entitled to their opinion but I would say don't use this forum to slag people off. Sort it out face to face or not at all!

Noel, trust me, I didnt put anyone up to posting anything (if I had, I would have suggested any name but that one to use!). I haven't been on this site for years and not sure if I have even posted here before. As I stated, I'd rather they hadn't posted that as believe me, I'd rather not get involved in this crap and regardless of what you post after this, this will be my last post on the subject.

You can posture on here as much as you want to. As you said elsewhere, there were very few people there to claim either way as to what happened.

You claimed you thumped me because I ''assaulted'' your girlfriend. The girlfriend who left your side, to walk 30 feet away from you, on her own, to where I was stood, to then aggressively try to snatch the bag of fanzines jammed between my legs. Do you agree with that bit so far????
So....lets just say I did ''assault her'' (which I didn't - as I said, one hand had fanzines in them, the other the carrier bag that your girlfriend was trying to steal) - but lets just say i did push her away..... what else would I be expected to do? Just say ''oh there you go, yes, steal my bag of fanzines and take them away with you, no problem at all my dear''.
No, I held on to the bag and she pulled this way and I pulled that way, she eventually let go and went back to your side.
Then enter big Noel into the ring for round 2.

As for the 2nd incident, if you wanted a word with me, well, had you said, ''Phill can I have a quick word mate'', I may have gone over. But ''Here's that wanker Gatenby'' didnt have the same effect on me. Why else would my friend have said ''why dont you just fuck off?'' if your request for a civilised discussion was so polite?
To recap that incident, do you deny walking from where you were selling a fanzine, right next to me and my friend, right in our (or his) face, all the way to near outside the supporters club office, (50 yards?) intimidating him, saying ''what you doing to do about it?', 'come on then' etc etc etc. (which is when the scuffle commenced)
Believe me, it's a far cry from your ''I was stood outside the ground innocently selling when 2 of them walked past me, grabbing me by the throat - it was retaliation yer honour'' scenario you are trying to paint.

You know the truth and I know the truth. You can write want you want on here, but deep, deep down, you know what really happened.

As for the Mike stuff, I can't comment as wasnt there or have knowledge of it, what I can comment on is you had issues with Mike, Bill and others I suspect, but you (and others) always took it out on me as I was the one stood there in line trying to do my bit. You were never brave enough to seek out those you had issues with, but just picked on me. Well done. I'm sure your girlfriend at the time must have looked up to you as a tough guy and felt safe around you.

Yes I said my 2nd post was to be my last - but that was based on the assumption that I would get a reply. I would like Noel to confirm or deny the points made in the post. Maybe you missed the post, so here it is again, with specific questions here to confirm / deny.

1. When you claim I ''assaulted'' your girlfriend, did she walk 30 feet or so, away from you and on her own, and aggressively attempt to snatch the bag of fanzines from between my feet before I ''assaulted'' her?

2. When this scuffle took place between yourself and my friend, did the incident begin in the fanzine sellers corner behind the Gene Kelly Stand with verbals and then the scuffle take place at the other end of the North Stand? And if so, how can this ''throttle' you mention then be classed as ''from out of nowhere''?

Should you answer ''No'' to the two questions, then you are a complete and utter liar and not worth any further dialogue.

PS why do you have an issue with my 'Phill' having 2 ll's? My name Phillip has two ll's so why not Phill? Surely there are far more important issues to get wound up about other than that?

I agree with you Eds about "old" being a top bloke, but this has been a top thread and have quite enjoyed the fanzine war memoirs. In fairness, the only real slagging off has been by the ex-editors themselves.

ps Does anybody remember Louise who used to sell kotk, a very tasty piece one thought.
