I'm sure if Guss came in and doesn't have us top of the league in the next 12 months everyone would want him sacked and out as well and we'd just try the next named manager who is in favour at the time.

I think that is a plausible scenario given the lack of patience some supporters seem to have.

More on the Juve connexion. That club are struggling too.

This:

Hiddink's agent, Cees van Nieuwen-huizen, told the Telegraph: "He [Cook] asked me if it would be worthwhile having a meeting to discuss the future and what might happen next summer.

is the ringing of the death bell for Mark hughes if you ask me.

How's cook going to explain this one away? W are just covering our bases etc?

He's gone. It's when not if.

Guus Huddink is set to sign a two-year extension as Russia's national manager despite being linked with Manchester City, his agent has told BBC 5 live.

City executive chairman Gary Cook asked about Hiddink's availability after his current deal runs out in August 2010, said agent Cees van Nieuwenhuizen.

But the club insist no approach has been made and they have no intention of hiring the former Chelsea boss.

City manager Mark Hughes has been under pressure after one win in 10 games.

Hiddink has been courted by several major clubs after Russia failed to qualify for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
