City= many black players, but at COMS not many black fans

Maybe the OP is black and wondering how he would be welcomed at COMs(maybe visiting Manchester and would like to go to a footy match) after not seeing many black fans on TV, he might of heard some of the horror stories from Spain, Italy, Russia etc!

"People of Color", yuk, that wishy washy Americanism makes my teeth itch.
BME sounds like something you catch off a dirty hospital bedpan.
I love the way ethnic minority has been changed to minority ethnic though. That is classic white socialist bullshit soundbite merchant material. Someone somewhere lives in a 5 bedroomed house in the country because they have the ability to turn this horseshit into policy.
What a load of bollocks.

This week I would describe my ethnic origin has Eurowhitopean because I'm a person of pasty palor. ;0)

Very good - made me laugh anyhow.

What was Bernard Mannings joke about the lottery, think it applies here. ..... ' meet us half way buy a fucking ticket!'

Can't put the full joke on as the PC brigade will have me.

I only read the first post in this 14 page topic and immediately came to the conclusion that the OP is an idiot of the highest order or is a big player in the shit stirring stakes! Made me very angry!!
Why would it make you very angry? Can always ignore the original post or this post

Explain it then instead of slagging people off. Why are at least 50% of City's playing squad from foreign decsent yet there are so few Black and Asian City fans at the ground?

One of the better questions on here. Every Blue should be welcome at City and 99% of City fans think they are yet the attendances suggest otherwise.

If you're not interested then just ignore the topic and let it drop naturally down the board.

So by your reckoning, just because there are so few black and Asian people at the matches, the club is, by default, racist? By the way, it's not "one of the better questions". It's a crass question. It's raised a non existant issue based on absolutley no evidence of racism whatsoever.

No I don't think MCFC are racist, but I think there are a significant number of City fans who are racist, even if they claim not to be. A football ground can be a quite initimidating environment for young Asians as it was for West Indians in the 1970s. You might argue that it's not, but at the very minimum there must be a perception that that is the case, otherwise there would be a lot more Asian fans at our games.

I think OP's question was valid especially if he hadn't been in matches. The communitys response is suprising imo but I won't draw any conclusions from that. If I went to see Orlando pirates' game and asked the same question from their fans I wouldn't expect to be called "a dick" etc. If the OP ever was planning to go to a match, he might not anymore.

You think a lot Marvin! Show me some evidence of racism amongst City fans, I dont belive you have any. There are black and asian fans posting on here stating that they havent had any bad experience at Maine Road. To suggest West Indians were intimidated to come to Maine Road in the 1970's is utter rubbish...even half the hooligan mob were black or mixed race? As for the Asian community around the ground..I think many did very well from from the associated trade from footie fans...shops, restaurants. Ive never seen these people being abused by City fans..quite the opposite, and quite a few did attend games back then. You might have valid comments about racist undercurrents elsewhere but I just dont see it at City, past and present.
