City Matters thread

I travel a fair way to get to home games, I can't go to some and can no longer transfer to my family, it's buahit. I own the ticket, I should be able to gift it to someone on my friends and family list but I can't anymore. Fucking sick of this and I doubt I'll renew next season. They are in the process of fucking up their core support and they won't get it back.

I missed the Liverpool game too. We fully intended to attend. Got down to Carlisle in horrible weather. Then the car started acting up. Call to RAC at Tebay and they couldn’t guarantee a fix so we limped home in time to see the game and our empty seats on TV. The thing that bugs me is that even after discussion with City Matters and the Club there is not one person that has explained this 10 game rule with anything that stands up to a little scrutiny. I know that City Matters are doing their best to get it canned/ amended but I think it’s here to stay. Anyway we are just about to try again and set off for Manchester. Let’s hope the sun shines a little on us today and the team. :-)
You have my sympathy. I did the trip from West Lothian for seven years. A killer in the winter. But I met a fantastic group of pals who I still see now and they are still travelling. The trains used to be much better and much cheaper. Now I am in Lancs and have a senior rail pass so I can't complain though the rail and roads are much much worse. Sadly I am addicted to live football and hate watching on the TV. As we all say: "City is a life sentence with no parole."

Im currently a season ticket holder. I maybe better with a flexi gold card. Do you know if they charge you the same price as a normal season ticket holder gets charged per match I currently pay £45 per match.
If you buy tickets for all 19 games, you pay the exact same amount as a season ticket in that area.

You need to buy for 16+ to get the full deposit back. You cant make an exact comparison with a regular season ticket if you go to 16, 17 or 18, as it will depend which games they are.

Thanks for the detailed response Stephen. That's good to know.

I thought they changed it this season to 1/19th of the cost of the season ticket
It was always 1/19th as a mean average cost, plus the £150. Now it is the same plus £120 and you get £7.50 back for each game you attend, with 16 being break even.

If you attend the cheaper games you can still be better off doing less than 16. However if you do 16 and that includes all the more expensive ones you will be worse off.

I think if they didn't charge the £120 there would be a lot dropped to Flexis as it would be the best of both worlds.

I would like to take my 8 year old daughter to a game. Can City provide guarantees that if I buy a ticket in the home section, I won’t need to scrap with away fans during the match in front of my daughter? Maybe something to bring up T the next meeting……

In view of the number of Turkish fans in home sections of the swamp last season, has City Matters asked the club what steps they are taking to ensure the same won't happen at the Etihad, and also what steps they are taking to ensure the safety of City fans if there are loads of Gala fans in the home areas.
And does anybody know if the OSC have asked the club and GMP the same question?

The only way the club can ensure only home fans are in the home areas of the stadium would be to operate a policy that tickets can only be sold by them so they can enforce the criteria of prior match attendance being needed. If they allow the 3rd party sites they partner with to sell tickets with no criteria then it will be bedlam and an unsafe atmosphere. There is 100% a decision to be made here over fan safety v profit , sadly I know which side the club will choose. They will put home fans at risk by allowing their partner ticketing sites to sell tickets to anyone with no criteria so long as they are able to pay the inflated price on the relevant website. Can city matters flag this concern now and ensure us fans concerns are aired , if the club then choose to ignore that then whatever happens next is on them

Yeah - we paid £120 at the start of the season for the flexi-gold. Then it's £32.50 for each ticket where we sit. Obviously if we only go to one match, it'll cost us £152.50, but the more we go to, the more of the initial £120 we "earn" back. It suits me and my lad as we live a couple of hours away from Manchester so can't always make it. We've waited a while to qualify and then wouldn't you know, first game of the season (Tottenham), he was at Leeds Festival and I was at a wedding I couldn't get out of.

Sods law going on there mate. Thanks for your detailed response.

Got a horrible feeling Khaldoon, Soriano and co won’t raise an eyebrow until something catastrophic happens, which may well be the case when Galatasaray rock up.
The club have a choice , pull sales from 3rd party sites who they partner with but implement no sales criteria and therefore actively take action to ensure fans safety , or allow sales with no criteria, increase profit but put fans at risk , which course of action do you think they will take?
