City Matters thread

Delaney has a degree in Journalism and a Masters in Politics.

And he clearly CAN'T do the fucking job.
Politicians have experience and similar qualifications, but can't do their real job. Sounds about normal. Hairedressers don't have good haircuts and painters have poorly decorated lounges.

I think many of us feel the same way about Soriano. He’s here to do a job. That’s what he’s doing in the eyes of Mansour and Khalddon. But at fan level he might as well not be at the club.

The next City Matters meeting would be a good opportunity for the club to open up and let the fans know what is currently happening with the North stand expansion via the City Matters Reps. Danny said that will be discussed at the next meeting. There is nothing confidential about that, as far as I’m aware. Questions like when when will the details of the fans surgery be made public, when will the planning application be submitted, when will new and better CGI images and information be released, etc. These are basic questions the club can tell the City Matters Reps and publish in the minutes of the meeting.

What I don’t want to read is the North stand expansion is confidential, so we aren’t allowed to discuss it outside of the meeting.

Tonight's meeting is scheduled to be an hour so I'm not sure how much North Stand discussion they'll be given this situation has cropped up.

There’s been a lot of things going right lately iMHO, on and off the pitch. This includes:
- The bin dippers getting their allocation cut by 20%
- Helpful stewards getting you into the ground if the electronic ticketing fails
- More bars with shorter queues.
- Early bird affordable ticket sales for some games. Albeit balanced out by more expensive tickets for other games.
- Commitment to expand the ground to 61k - that will hopefully help the atmosphere and result in more affordable tickets
- The recruitment of stellar talents in Haaland and Alvarez.
- fans helping each other with tickets, including on the BM ticket page.

The downside is many fans saying they receive poor service; expensive and limited supply tickets for top games; and the joint statement with LFC.

I feel insulated from some of the negatives through all the help I receive through the OSC but I know City Matters Reps have helped plenty of Blues.

That said. City Matters need to ensure that fans’ representatives are Blues

She’s took the piss. She hasn’t hung anyone.

I made my thoughts clear in my post. It's been frustrating. But I've "been conned into thinking it's something more than a box-ticking exercise" because, unlike you and your fellow whingers, I spent four years doing it, so I know how much we did, individually and as a group, behind the scenes.
Oh the irony of calling us whingers then writing an essay of whinge.

City Matters is a toothless tiger arranged to tick boxes. If there are no minutes for a YEAR then seriously what is the point.

Whilst I’m sure some of the panel think they are providing a service for fans todays revelations show some of the panel are using the position for other reasons.

The only visible action in 12 months was the pathetic letter sent re the LFC fixture.

It’s been discredited and should be suspended until they get their act together.

Does seem a bit odd at first but I suppose when you think about it, it’s not that weird if you’re into both men and women’s football, to support different teams.

If I was to suddenly get into watching women’s football now, I imagine I’d probably support City.

But it’s only relatively recently that most clubs have really embraced a women’s team, or even had one at all.

So it wouldn’t be totally mad to have supported another women’s team from years back and stuck with them, even when City started taking it seriously.

Not saying that’s what this lady has done. Just the concept of it isn’t outrageous.

Hard to disagree with any of that. Soriano didn't want City Matters but was forced into it when the Parliamentary Football Expert Working Group insisted that clubs should have meaningful fan engagement forums. But he's love us all to walk away, then claim that the fans don't really want meaningful engagement.

They may love him in Abu Dhabi but in my view he's been an absolute disaster for the true fans of our club.
Soriano’s heart belongs to CFG. City are just one club in the scheme of things. Ok, the jewel in the crown, but just one club nevertheless. I expect he will be heavily engaged in the New York development which is a near £900m project.

The only irony here is that you're completely discrediting the efforts of people who put in a lot of time & effort on behalf of fellow fans, without having the slightest notion of what they've done or achieved, and when you'd have no intention of putting in a tenth of the time and effort that they have.

I've made it clear that I partly agree with you. I definitely agree that the club sell CM short and we've had numerous, sometimes heated exchanges with them over this for some time. But without that direct channel with the club, many fans wouldn't have had the opportunity to get things quietly sorted out. And one of the first things we did, nearly four and a half years ago, was talk about the North Stand extension. The club presented its plans and some weren't to our liking, so we made our own suggestions, such as covering City Square and stopping them moving the Family Stand to somewhere completely unfeasible.

And re the joint letter issued, that was nothing to do with City Matters or approved by it. The chairman was told in no uncertain terms that he was wrong to get involved in that without consulting the rest of the group. And to his credit, he realised he was in the wrong.

I’m sure the above questions won’t take long to ask and answer, mate. :-)

I’ll settle for when is the planning application is being submitted, week of the month. And the Centurion naming question. The fans survey might still be being worked through. And better CGI images of the proposal will probably be released closer to or when the planning application is submitted.

Do you get the opportunity to forward your questions to the bods at City before the meeting?

You’ve know about the North stand expansion plans for four and a half years! My God, you did well to keep that quiet. :-)

What were the other plans like? You can tell us now as they’ve been dropped. Don’t you dare say it’s still confidential! Of course I’m fishing. ;-)

The meetings aren't quite as formal as that generally but yes in theory we can do that.

Usually we get an agenda in advance then presentations are made. We're then given the chance to comment and ask questions.

I'll ask those above and get back to you.

@Prestwich_Blue your last sentence says ‘And to his credit, he realised he was in the wrong.’ If he did what did he do about it? Did he apologise to the CM people? Did he apologise to the fans who felt insulted and misrepresented?
He was quick enough to apologise to the team down the other end of the East Lancs but not the fans who support our club.

Not getting at you PB I know you work hard for us but just wondering.

JMHO

I find it hard to disagree with the CSB tweet. They found out that a so called City fans rep supports another team. Hell I found her TikTok post in 2 minutes where she supports Chelsea playing our women's team.

For a person with a Masters you would have thought she might see that what she was doing was not right.

I would say though, that Fran lives on all the social media platforms and the images are all public domain.

Talking of which ... She has just played the ADHD and Anxiety card on Twitter, what a surprise!

Liverpool U18's fan as well then?

Tell them if I can park near the building I’ll do the minutes for you and have them ready for publishing within 48 hrs or even 24 hrs! I did it for years for the union. :-)

EDIT: as long as there are no stairs to climb!!

No that isn't the whole point of twitter. I've met some great people via twitter. Some people use it to pile on to other people but I wouldn't have expected see an organisation like Canal Street Blues, who advocate on behalf of a community who have historically been marginalised in the game, to take a path like that against another member of their community.

I can't say whether she blagged her way onto CM or not. The only person in this thread who actually has sat on the CM committee has said she is absolutely a fan of the men's team and has worked as hard as anybody on there, so who am I to argue with that. For whatever reason she's decided she wants to be involved with Chelsea as far as the women's game goes and for that reason I don't feel she should be CM rep anymore. But it could have been dealt with privately. Honestly, in the grand scheme of things it's really not worth getting upset about or somebody getting abused over. I suspect there's some personal beef at play here and it isn't a very classy way of dealing with things.

There's no such thing as 'class' when it comes to twatter, facebook, etc.

Like I said... Dance with the devil.

Cheers Danny. Much appreciated.
