City Matters thread

Go into the meeting in a position of strength after last night. All the fans are behind you.

While the club would undoubtedly love everyone to use TX as they'd benefit financially, I can tell you they're happy enough as long as the tickets are used.
Forgive my ignorance. If you use the ticket exchange, can your ticket only be bought by fellow City fans buying through the City website or are their chances that the seat will end up on a third party seller site?

Good luck @Alex - City Matters today. Remember the words the Sheik used on the 10th anniversary of his acquisition of the club and use them if you are getting nowhere.

Khaldoon and I know that we will not get everything right all the time. As we continue on this journey I would ask you to please always bear with us and please be assured that, even when we stumble, we will try to remain true to our values and to make you proud of what we do and how we do it on your behalf.

Over the last ten years I have learned a lot more about what it is to be a City fan. I understood quickly why 40 points is important - and why inflatable bananas (and now sharks!) still make an appearance. And whilst I don’t have a Lamborghini, I was very tempted to get one a few years ago. It has been a most enjoyable education for me.

That said, what I have always known is that players and management will come and go from our Club, but you the fans are permanent. I will not forget that. I hope you have enjoyed these last ten years and I promise the next ten will be no less exciting.

And immediately after the acquisition:

Firstly I would like to thank you for the many expressions of good will and joy we have received since our wish to purchase the Club was announced. We are deeply touched and now have some great personal experience of what so many people have told us for a while now.......you are the greatest fans in the world.

As part of that, we will absolutely spend time listening to you the fans about what you think about the future of the club.
We are very aware that without you there would not be a club to buy, and your voice will be heard by the organisation at the highest level.

I'm struggling to understand how he can be this tone deaf, people genuinely struggling to pay bills and the match prices keep going up. The prerequisite for "understanding" isn't screwing as much out of the fan base as possible.

Maybe he doesn't know the extent of it. He will get one story from the club. If he doesn't know the full extent, he will be asking some serious questions after last night.

Maybe you are right mate, but I reckon he is just looking after the business and he's saying the right things.

Up to him to remove my cynicism or expose fans naivety to what's going on.

Interesting what Pep said yesterday - basically the club will speak to the fans and each put their perspectives and hopefully come to an agreement. If the protests continue because the club ignore this, he will be asked at every press conference. That in itself will create internal pressures within the club.

Hopefully they will remember how they started and the promises they made and concessions will be made. If the club and the fan representatives truly worked together I have no doubt the Club could achieve their financial goals whilst creating a better matchday for legacy fans, attract back those that have been lost to pricing and ensure future generations can enjoy what we have enjoyed.

If I return my ticket as an OAP the Club will sell it as an Adult and will not give an OAP or Junior the chance to purchase. Also if you return an Adult ticket, quite rightly you will only get the proportion you paid on your ST. But the Club will then sell that way and above the price. It's not surprising that ST holders who cannot attend the top fixtures chose to sell their tickets by other means.
We had a family of three - 1 adult, two children sat next to us yesterday - in what are normally adult season ticket seats. - So occasionally 2 juniors do get a chance - their favourite players were Doku and Ederson and they clearly make good use of the club shop!

Even crooks like Uli Hoeneß understand this;

We could charge more than €120 per season ticket. If we charge €350 per season ticket we would get €2m extra, but what does that mean for us? The difference for a fan between €120 and €350 is enormous and we do not believe that fans are like cows, which are milked. Football has to be for everyone. That is the biggest difference between us and England’.

German football and near socialist ownership models have long ensured fans have a huge say and are deeply embedded in the Bundesliga structure.
Those who break that mould are frowned upon and treated with disdain.

Many in the Bundesliga circles long-realised Uli Hoeneß needed to commit to this model. He didn't half have pressure to speak about the matters.

So, who's gluing themselves to the road to stop the team bus? Rumour has it...

Correct. Or maybe Hoeness is only doing it so they avoid paying more tax. What with his track record and all that!

In theory they can be bought by anyone meeting the criteria for that particular game (membership, previous history, etc). However many of us (well me at least) believe some are bought by touts/resellers with multiple memberships who then sell at inflated prices AND/OR the club who resell as some form of “hospitality” (eg free programme and a pie) at vastly inflated prices.
