City Ownership

I think you can find that Sheikh Mansour sometimes have mentioned other stakeholders while ownership of the club is his.
These stakeholders are generally those with an interest in the club like fans or sponsors.
Take Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan the chairman of ETIHAD, deffo a stakeholder in my book, and a member of the Royal family at large as are the chairmen of other sponsors from Abu Dhabi we got.

If we get political, In Abu Dhabi there are no single rulers, no tyrants per se..they are big on consensus, and on "majlis" which is the main form of contact between the guys at the top and the poor, erm..the $15m per capita citizens of Abu Dhabi.
Basically Majlis means that if you don´t do a proper job as a ruler or whatever, director of roadrepairs perhaps people will be sitting in your courtyard complaining every week..it´s astonishingly efficient as the lazy sod will have to listen to the same complaints every week.
Mind you..if you are not Emirati you are nobody really. There was a post about the UAE-foreign legion or what they call it.
But in truth the whole UAE is mercenary, there are mercenary cops from Oman, mercenary bank-clerks from India, half their military is from other countries really etc etc.
It´s a fascinating Emirate that I´m always willing to discuss but this thread have run its course I fear.

Interesting S04. So what is your opinion on the structure of influence at City? Who is the "boss with the final say"? Shiekh Mansour? Sheikh Mohammed? Sheikh Khalid even?
Mate who gives a fuck? We just won a major trophy after 35 years & you start some bullshit like this? Haven't you got anything more productive to do with your time?

As a previous poster said, HRH Sheikh Mansour passed the fit & proper person test with flying colours. What's your problem?

The guy is obviously had a "moment"! yet he's a fucking mod of this site, what does that tell you about this site? Fuck being a mod, he needs banning! What's he trying to achieve with this thread? People were talking about this nearly three years ago, it eventually petered out into a nothing subject. Even if he REALLY wanted to know why Roberto mentioned Mohammed's name did he REALLY have to post the shit about torture and human rights? I've read over a few of his posts and he seems a fairly intelegent bloke, but he's obviously got no common sense otherwise he'd'v stayed well clear of the things that could really stir up a storm in the media. Could he not just have tried to find out as much info as possible about the whole subject before putting the clubs ownership in question for all the world to read? If someone with 200 posts would have done this he would have had at least a warning from some mods! Especially after de Niro, yesterday, posting that people really need to watch what they're posting over the summer as journo's will take every opportunity they can to defamate City while there's no football to report on! Christ Damocles, give your head a wobble!

I don't even know how to reply to this type of post.

"We shouldn't discuss anything that casts the club in anything but a totally positive light". I can't believe how mad that is.

I didnt click on it, so I am not sure what it showed, but torture videos. What did it show Damocles as I am a bit squeamish.

I can tell you, it´s an old scandal involving Sheikh Issa.

Born as one of the late Emirs 19 sons he grew up adoring his brother that was an up and coming Al-Nahyan, his brother Nasser was in the military but his helicopter and six crewmen went missing near an area disputed with Iran. Some still think it was shoot down but the official version says accident.
Mad with grief young Issa started doing drugs, heavily..He became erratic and violent and when an arab grain-trader overcharged him he went berserk.
It was caught on film.

When the matter in due time reached the local court Issa admitted to being a drug-addict and prone to rages.
He was then turned over to the Royal Household where he now mostly dedicates his time and money on religious charities and have plenty of old Imams as company...Not that he had a choice really.

Whilst I've had an ongoing war with Damocles all seAson I feel the abuse he is getting in this thread is pathetic . It's a totally valid observation and this thread has definitely been informative about the clubs ownership and the culture of Abu dhabi.

Thanks to the knowledgeable contributors. I feel the answer to the question posed is in the thread too.

Sorry so many of you had your seasons ruined by it .

I think Damocles might have to change his location ;)

Of course we have the right to question why roberto thanks an unknown figure however its normally best not to immediately start jumping to conclusions. In all fairness though this thread should probably be deleted. If we are owned by the Abu Dhabi government then we need to get NDJ hidden away somewhere. As soon as the Americans find out we own a WMD we will be in serious trouble.

Thankyou S04. I find it reprehensible that a moderator on this forum should use a video such as this to, in his own words "make a point". Maybe he regrets the OP and maybe he should consult better informed people before causing this storm in a rather large teacup.

Hopefully he regrets the posting of this video to "make a point"

Disgusted of Burnage.

If the thread gets deleted as so many of the hysterical contributors want, then blue moon is dead. It is exactly what the forum is for.

I was really looking forward to hearing the gospel according
to Dudsbury Dave in the bar at the Harrow Hotel after our
defining victories at Wembley

However, I did not hear anyone moaning about our
owner, manager team etc - WHY?

FWIW, the "boss with the final say" is Khaldoon, as he is the chairman.

However the way in which he makes those decisions is probably more interesting. Like SO4 says, my understanding is that many royal families in middle eastern circles tends to be keen on consensus. A problem will be discussed, many points of view will be aired and a consensus will emerge. Where there is some genuinely strategic thinking going on, the entire family will probably be involved. I am speculating, but I can imagine the way in which the club approached the FFPR is a good example - do they say "fuck it" and walk away? Do they threaten UEFA and say "see you in court"? Do they say "let's see how we can work with these people"? This may be a bad example, it is just an indication of the sort of big picture issue which probably was discussed amongst the family at large. There will be other decisions which Khaldoon will discuss with Sheikh Mansour alone, and yet others do not really call for consultation at all.

If the question is "where does the buck stop", it stops with Khaldoon. In theory I suppose he could ignore what the family or the owner says and do something different and then he'd be out of a job, but that just isn't the way as I understand it that these guys do business. It's consensus.

PS, I do not have, and do not claim to have, any inside knowledge of how the AD royal family actually makes these decisions or the extent to which (if at all) City is debated or discussed by that family. What I say is, can I stress, educated guessing.
