City Square Stage Is No More :-( What Did You Think Of It And What It Offered?

The concept was okay in principle . The interviews with ex players was okay, as was showing actual football. There were sometimes some fairly decent bands playing ,though they didn't normally get much attention from the 'punters'.
A lot of the 'entertainment' was a bit silly/contrived in truth, and I did have the misfortune of hearing that DJ turning decent songs into 'club mixes' a couple of times! .
Like the club shop (where I very rarely make a purchase) I saw it as a way of killing some time before the game and negotiating the ques to get in. Not as enjoyable as a few pre match pints, but a lot kinder on the wallet

Dickhead in what way ?
He approached me to interview me prior to the Wigan cup final. He asked what it meant for me to be there that day. I hadn't been able to afford the Stoke cup final so this was a huge occasion for me. I had both my boys there, was with my Dad and my step brother.

I started to reply saying that all I ever wanted as a City fan growing up in the 80's and 90's was to watch us win the FA Cup and it felt like all those dark days had led to that day.

Before I had the chance to elaborate, he smugly replied "Erm...have you forgotten that we won the cup two years ago?" and walked away grinning away like he was proud of himself.

To be fair to City, the idea and implementation of City Square (the basic concept of pre/post-game entertainment at the stadium) was revolutionary. No other club had anything like that before, and now you see it replicated all over the country at places like Goodison, Anfield etc.
Fuck me that will be another charge aimed at us

If Pike wasn’t an ex glamour model she’d be getting Hugh Ferris level pelters. Cringey as fuck.

It can’t be hard to find an actual grownup to host these things and not a load of people who sound, look and act like wannabe kids TV presenters on a job interview.
Thank you X 100 for expressing how I've felt about useless Pike for years.

I've always thought she was utterly awful at her job and that voice ...arrgghhhh. you can tell she's putting on the manc bit.

Only great thing about the stage was when Mike McLean was on it. The low point was either Natalie screeching or when that band who plays the chants comes on....cringe as fuck.

I'll miss it for when I was stood alone in Summerbees awaiting the arrival of my mates and it provided something different, but just went lame in the last 3 years.
